Research Center for Party Building and World Political Parties of SZPT

Established in 2019, the Research Center for Party Building and World Political Parties of Shenzhen Polytechnic Universityc (SZPU) was included in the first batch of Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Science in Shenzhen. It was previously led by Chen Qiuming, former Secretary of the Party Committee and Professor at SZPT, and is now under the charge of Chen Jianling, Researcher (part-time) and President of SZPT. Among the 15 researchers, full-time and part-time, at the Center, ten hold senior titles and 13 hold doctoral degrees. Their areas of expertise cover multiple specialized fields, such as international politics, international relations, Marxism, Party building, politics, philosophy, pedagogy, economics, world history, and sociology. As a new think tank institution established to integrate relevant research capabilities inside and outside SZPT, aiming to develop into a first-class international political party research base and academic exchange platform, it focuses on the research of major foreign communist parties (workers' parties), both ruling parties and parties in opposition in major countries. It also focuses on Xi Jinping's thought on party building and inter-party relations for a new era and the major theoretical and practical issues concerning economic and social development of CPC, China, and Shenzhen, and puts emphasis on the CPC's development of new inter-party relations, China's formulation of foreign policies, Shenzhen's "going global" development strategy, Marxism, and political science discipline construction. In July 2021, it was successfully upgraded to the "Research Center for World Political Parties of SZPT" (Key Research Institute of Social Science in Guangdong).

Xu Jianling holds a Ph.D. in Education and is Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of SZPT, Part-time Researcher of the Higher Education Development Research Center of Xiamen University (Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Science under the Ministry of Education), Part-time Researcher of Academic Publication Evaluation Center of the Renmin University of China, Member of the Committee for Education, Science, Culture, Health of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress, and Leader of the Professional Group of Education Representatives of the Seventh Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress. He has previously taught at Shenzhen University and served as Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau. His research interests include higher education management, higher education principles, and university curriculum and teaching theory. He has published two monographs, more than 40 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals such as Educational Research, Researching on Higher Education, and Curriculum, Teaching Material and Method, and many of them have been reprinted by relevant domestic magazines and other publications. His representative works include "The Origin and Essence of Curriculum Integration in Colleges and Universities", "Possibility and Limitation of Academic Power Expansion in Universities", and "Orientation and Construction of Higher Education Quality Assurance System in the Stage of Popularization". He has won the second prize of Guangdong Provincial Award for Excellent Achievements in Higher Education Management Science Research, and the third prize of Shenzhen Municipal Award for Excellent Achievements in Social Science.
Ph.D. in Law (postdoctoral candidate), Executive Deputy Director, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the Research Center for Party Building and the Research Center for World Political Parties (Key Research Institute of Social Science in Guangdong). He is also a core team member of the World Socialist Movement of the National High-end Think Tank of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, a specially invited researcher of the World Socialist Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), a guest researcher of the Center for the Study of Foreign Marxist Political Parties of Central China Normal University and the Center for the Study of Contemporary World Marxist Political Parties of Liaoning University. He is mainly engaged in research on the theory and practice of the Communist Party of Japan. He has published more than 80 papers in important journals such as Social Sciences in China (Internal Manuscript), Studies on Marxism, Contemporary World and Socialism, Theoretical Front in Higher Education, Scientific Socialism, Socialism Studies, and Foreign Theoretical Trends, of which 19 have been indexed, excerpted, and reprinted by Xinhua Digest, Marxism Digest, China Social Science Excellence, and other newspapers and periodicals. He has published two monographs and another two will be published soon. Twenty of his senior management reports have been used by functional departments such as the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC, the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, CASS, and national high-end think tanks. Among these reports, two have received positive comments from central leaders and three have received positive comments from provincial and ministerial leaders, providing a reference for relevant departments to formulate relevant policies. Xu Jianling: Participatory Teaching in Universities: Theoretical Discussion and System Construction (independent), China Ocean University Press, 2006. By combining theory and practice, this book studies participatory teaching in colleges and universities, aiming to promote subjectivity development through participatory teaching. It is the first study that puts forward a participatory teaching system for universities with an open and broad vision.
Cao Tianlu: Research on Tetsuzo Fuwa Thought: Japanese Communist Party Marxist-oriented Exploration and Inspiration (independent), Commercial Press, 2014. The Tetsuzo Fuwa Thought, the concentrated reflection of the exploration of the Japanization of Marxism by Japanese communists represented by Tetsuzo Fuwa, has passed through four stages, including the theory of "peaceful revolution under occupation", the theory of "striving for a peaceful revolution", the theory of "Japan's unique path", and the theory of "new social factors", and accordingly proposed "Japanization of Marxism-Leninism", "people's parliamentarism", "Japanese style socialism", and "democratic reform within the framework of capitalism".
