The advanced socialist culture with Chinese characteristics is the ethical and cultural progress made by the Communist Party of China (CPC), leading the Chinese people to advance the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Besides, it is a cultural innovation of CPC, guided by Marxism and based on the unity of nationality, science, popularity, openness, and inclusiveness, the embodiment of the great strength of socialism, and the root and impetus of cultural confidence. Shenzhen is at the forefront of reform and opening up in China, and the development of Shenzhen itself is an important manifestation of the great strength of advanced socialist culture. These abundant historical experiences are worth summarizing and refining. At the same time, as a window to the reform and opening up and the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Shenzhen must be the main force to disseminate the advanced socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.

In November 2017, Shenzhen Polytechnic University established the Research and Communication Center of Advanced Socialist Culture to summarize and publicize Shenzhen's experience and achievements gained during the construction of advanced socialist culture. This will help to promote the research and construction of advanced socialist culture in Shenzhen and strengthen the construction of the School of Marxism of Shenzhen Polytechnic University and the education of advanced socialist culture for vocational college students. The center's researchers consist of 47 teachers from the School of Marxism, 17 tutors from secondary schools, and student cadres. The current research directions of the center are: (1) Shenzhen's experience in the construction of advanced socialist culture. (2) Advanced socialist culture and the ideological and political education of college students in Shenzhen. (3) Comparing the cultures of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan.
