The Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology (IIMT) was found inJanuary, 2019. There are 36 staff, including31 doctors, 2 national technical experts, 9 Shenzhen high-level talents, and more than 60% of the full-time research staff have overseas research experience.The Institute has established an academic committee, with Academician Zhao Chunsheng as the director and Chang-Jiang Scholar Professor Sun Lining as the Chief Scientist. Theinstitute focuses on two major research directions: robotics and intelligent systems, intelligent manufacturing processes and system integration, in order to serve the intelligent manufacturing, aerospace, life and health in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area through multidisciplinary fusion.
The institute has undertaken more than 60 scientific research projects, including the National Science Foundation of China, with a total research funding of more than 13 million RMB, published 30 SCI papers, and applied for 8 patents. It has undertaken more than 40 scientific and technological transformation projects and provided precise technical services for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The institute adheres to the application R&D orientation. It developed a lattice structure construction technology based on the 3D printing technology to support the lightweight and structure integration design and manufacturing of new micro/nano satellitse of Shenzhen Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Ltd. It proposed the longitudinal twisting ultrasonic assisted micro milling approach to fabricate glass micro grooves, which can satisfy the detection demand of high level glass microfluidic chips. Based on the scientific research, five representative products have been developed, such as series of intelligent manufacturing teaching and training equipment, intelligent omnidirectional walking assistance mobile robot, intelligent recreation system for the elderly, online monitoring system for tool wear and breakage, and visual sorting system for coal gangue. In terms of fundamental research, the mechanism of bionic mineralization construction of sub-nano MOFs ion channels on the surface of cardiomyocytes and the mechanism of external acoustic field assisted forming and resistance to micro-motion damage in fastened joint structures were studied. On the emergent demands of high skilled talents from intelligent manufacturing enterprises, it has developed 3 kinds of intelligent manufacturing teaching and training equipments, and compiled 5 supporting course lecture notes, which can provide courses, such as Industrial Robot Actual Operation and Programming, Intelligent Equipment ElectromechanicalIntegration Technology, and Electromechanical Integration Technology Comprehensive Practical Training. The institute has developed innovative project-based courses based on its scientific research subjects, and guided students to attend the 7th China International “Internet+” University Students Innovation and Pioneering Competition, and the team won a Golden Award in Guangdong Province Competition Area.
