Since its establishment, Shenzhen Polytechnic has undertaken 4,471 scientific research projects at various levels, including 69 national-level projects, 374 provincial-and ministerial-level projects, and 735 municipal-level and district-level projects. It has published 188 academic monographs, 101 edited books, 13 translated books, and 12,901 academic papers. For scientific achievements, Shenzhen Polytechnic has received 61 awards from the Ministry of Education of the PRC, Guangdong Province, and Shenzhen City. In June 2015, the Institute of Vocational & Adult Education of East China Normal University, in cooperation with other institutions, released the Research Report on Evaluation of Scientific Research Competitiveness of 200 National Demonstrative and Key Vocational Colleges in China, where Shenzhen Polytechnic ranked first with a score of 85.53. We also ranked first in three different categories, including the number of CSCD papers.
Shenzhen Polytechnic has 12 national key construction demonstration majors, 14 national teaching awards (including one grand prize and three first prizes), five national professional teaching resources libraries for vocational education, 9 training bases supported by central finance, 53 national high-quality courses, and 43 national high-quality resource-sharing courses. In addition, we also have 56 research platforms at provincial, ministerial, municipal, and district levels and have received 61 provincial and municipal awards. In the past five years, we have received research funds of RMB 573 million, with an annual average of RMB 115 million, making Shenzhen Polytechnic rank 17th among colleges and universities in Guangdong Province in terms of the total research funds.
Since 2017, we have set up three comprehensive research and development platforms, namely the Institute of Applied Technology Research and Development, the Institute of Cultural and Creative Products Research and Development, and the Economic and Social Development Research Institute, to carry out applied research and development, innovative design, research and consultation on strategic emerging industries, future industries, cultural creative industries, and major issues related to economic and social development in Shenzhen, and explore new models of applied technology research and development and school-enterprise cooperation. Our college has signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the People’s Government of Shenzhen Municipal, China Unicom, China Mobile, ZTE, Huawei, National Engineering Research Center for Rapid Manufacturing, Chaihuo Makers Space, Shenzhen Institute of Terahertz Technology and Innovation, and other government departments and industrial enterprises, creating a broader space for the scientific research development of Shenzhen Polytechnic in the new era.
