History

1993 - 2005

Stage I:

Starting from scratch, the model of higher vocational education in China was created. (1993-2005)

Insisting on cultivating people by virtue, establishing career through practices, and developing school by characteristics, Shenzhen Polytechnic has creatively put forward important innovative ideas as "our specialty course will focus on where the economic growth points of Shenzhen emerge", "professors should have resources in their hands" and "cultivating skilled college students and college-level skilled craftsmen", which make the school the leader of China's higher vocational education and create the well-known "Shenzhen Polytechnic Speed" and "Shenzhen Polytechnic Model".

In 1992,

founders of SZPT visited the campus site.

In May 1993,

the previous Higher Education Bureau of Guangdong Province hosted a symposium for the establishment of Shenzhen Polytechnic.

In April 1994,

a groundbreaking ceremony for the school building was held.

In September, 1993,

SZPT held the opening ceremony for the school's first intake of students.

In 2000 and 2004,

Shenzhen Vocational and Technical School and Shenzhen Health School were merged into Shenzhen Polytechnic

In September 2003,

the school passed the national talent training evaluation with excellent performance.

2006 - 2015

Stage II:

Developing and prospering, this school cultivates innovative, quality, and highly skilled talents with the goal of "pursuing ethical and academic development in parallel, equally emphasizing learning and thinking and underlining both theories and practice". (2006-2015)

Shenzhen Polytechnic has systematically put forward the reform of culture education, compound education, and collaborative education, formed the schooling model through "interconnection of governments, schools, industries, and enterprises and all-round promotion of production, education, research and application", and established the talent cultivation goal of "pursuing ethical and academic development in parallel, equally emphasizing learning and thinking and underlining both theories and practice". Shenzhen Polytechnic continued to lead the reform and development of China's higher vocational education, built the "Shenzhen Polytechnic Model" of connotation development, and opened the era of connotation development, innovative development, and character development.

In December 2006,

Shenzhen Polytechnic was included in the first batch of project units to establish the national demonstration higher vocational colleges.

In December 2008,

Shenzhen Polytechnic-Huawei Cooperative Training Center was officially established, which is the first authorized training center set up by Huawei in China.

In September 2011,

Shenzhen Polytechnic held a ceremony to launch the construction of the volunteer school, and the construction of the volunteer school became an important grip of the school's cultural education

In September 2012,

Shenzhen Polytechnic established the first entrepreneurship academy among Shenzhen universities and colleges

In November 2012,

In November 2012, Zhang Rongming, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee (CPPCC), inaugurated the "Collaborative Innovation Center for the Operation Mechanism of Vocational Education in China"

In July 2015,

the first batch of graduates after Shenzhen Polytechnic's "Specialty+" reform received dual certificates

In November 2009,

the school passed the acceptance inspection for the establishment of national demonstration higher vocational colleges.

In December 2011,

the first national high-end forum on "cultural quality" for higher education institutions was held in Shenzhen Polytechnic

2016 to present

Stage III:

Striving for the first-class level, Shenzhen Polytechnic will be established into a world-class vocational institution with Chinese characteristics, and contribute to the development of vocational education in the world with the "Shenzhen Model". (From 2016 to date)

Adhering to the "four respects", promoting "six integrations", and striving to achieve the strategic development goals of "three services, five positionings, one leading", Shenzhen Polytechnic takes the lead in building world-class vocational institution with Chinese characteristics, provide "Shenzhen vocational experience" in the new era of vocational education development, and contribute to the development of vocational education in the world with the "Shenzhen model".

In December 2016,

the Third Congress of the CPC of Shenzhen Polytechnic set the strategic development goal of "one leading, three services, five positionings".

In 2017,

the school signed a cooperation agreement with UNESCO, and in the same year the school was approved to establish the "UNESCO Research and Training Centre for Vocational Education Programme in Asia and Africa"

In 2017,

the school signed with many government departments and well-known enterprises in the industry to launch a new era of strategic cooperation between industry, academia, and research

In November 2017,

Maker Faire Shenzhen was held in Shenzhen Polytechnic. Eighty-six projects involving 300 student makers from Shenzhen Polytechnic competed with projects by the world's well-known elite makers.

In 2017,

the school established Xili Community College, Dapeng Tourism College and was committed to building the "vocational education special zone" with the integration of industry and education

In 2017,

the first overseas vocational education and training center of Shenzhen Polytechnic was established in Bulgaria

In 2018,

In 2018, the Nobel Prize winner, Laureate Hoffmann team settled in Shenzhen Polytechnic to jointly promote the development and industrialization of leading international new material

2016 to 2018

Shenzhen Polytechnic has topped the competitiveness ranking of China's higher vocational colleges for three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018
