The School of Communication offers four majors, including Digital Graphic Information Processing Technology, Digital Publishing, Packaging Planning and Design, and Communication and Planning. Among them, Digital Graphic Information Processing Technology ranks first, Digital Publishing second, Packaging Planning and Design second, and Communication and Planning sixth in the 2021 ranking of the competitiveness of majors in higher vocational schools, according to the Network of Science & Education Evaluation in China (Jinpingguo Ranking).

The School is committed to training senior technicians, designers and managers needed in the industries of printing, packaging, publishing, new media communication and creative planning. After graduation, our students are proficient in creative design, graphic production, image processing, digital pre-press and digital printing, packaging and brand planning and design, digital content design and production, web design and development, man-machine interaction design, mobile application development practice, omnimedia resource and digital copyright management, media planning, new media operation, event planning, etc.

The School currently has 1,358 students and 69 faculty members, including five professors, 21 associate professors, one provincial famous teacher, one candidate of the Leading Talent of Higher Vocational Education in Guangdong Province, one provincial candidate of the Thousand-Hundred-Ten Project in Guangdong Province, five high-level professionals in Shenzhen, one teacher rated as Talent under the Peacock Plan in Shenzhen, two technical experts of Guangdong Province, one technical expert of Shenzhen, 10 experts in international certification of printing standardization, and three school-level candidates of the Thousand-Hundred-Ten Project in Guangdong Province. Of all the teachers, 96% hold a master's degree or above (13 have a doctoral degree), and 95% are qualified "double-position" teachers.

The School also has a world-class communication technology center, as well as ten school-enterprise technology R&D and training centers, ten student creation and entrepreneurship workshops, and 1,600 pieces of equipment with a total worth of RMB 75 million. The School has set up over 130 off-campus practice bases at newspapers, publishing houses, media enterprises, and large printing and packaging enterprises.

The School offers one national demonstration major and one national backbone major. It also has a national collaborative innovation center, a provincial collaborative innovation center, a high-level major group in higher vocational schools in Guangdong Province, one first-class major in Guangdong Province, one second-class brand major in Guangdong Province, one national high-quality course, one national high-quality resource-sharing course, two national high-quality resource database courses, four high-quality courses of the Higher Education Steering Committee under the Ministry of Education, and three national professional teaching resource database courses. It has published five textbooks for higher vocational schools and established two training bases at the provincial level, as well as five research platforms at the municipal and district levels.

With a focus on fostering students' creativity and training their skills, students of the School have won a number of medals and awards in various competitions, including two first prizes in the National Packaging Vocational Skills Competition for two consecutive years, eight first prizes in the National Printing Industry Vocational Skills Competition, with two students rated as technical experts in the national printing industry, one national first prize and four second prizes in the National Advertising Art Design Competition, and two golden prizes in China International College Students' 'Internet+' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Guangdong Province. More than 200 students have won provincial awards.

The education quality of the School has been improved and over 95% of students graduate with an advanced professional certificate. The employment rate of graduates is as high as 98%, with more than 50% of graduates employed in the communication industry. The graduates are favored by the industry and various companies, with a supply-demand ratio of 1:4. All graduates are assured of recommendations to fill available positions in Shenzhen.
