Faculties

The School of Electronic and Communication Engineering has set up seven majors, namely Electronic Information Engineering Technology, Modern Communication Technology, Computer Network Technology, Internet of Things Application Technology, Mobile Internet Application Technology, Information Security and Technology Application, and Integrated Circuits Technology, and all of them belong to the national "Plan for the Development of High-level Higher Vocational Schools and Majors with Chinese Characteristics". The School has 87 administrative classes and 3,048 students. In March 2021, Shenzhen Polytechnic University established the School of Integrated Circuit, which is now co-operated by a joint headquarters office with the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, to meet the demands of the ongoing high-speed growth of China's electronic industry and cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talent urgently needed by the entire industrial chain of integrated circuits in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The School now has 120 faculty members, including 84 full-time teachers,8 professors, 50 associate professors and senior engineers, 34 doctors, 2 national-level industrial leaders, 1 provincial-level outstanding teacher, 1 winner of provincial May Day Labor Medal, 4 outstanding teachers of South Guangdong, 3 provincial training objects of the "Thousand-Hundred-Ten Project", 2 winners of municipal May Day Labor Medal, 1 specially appointed professor of the "Pearl River Scholar" project, 1 "Peng Cheng Scholar", 2 Skilled Elites of Shenzhen, 5 Outstanding Teachers of Shenzhen Polytechnic University, and 2 Lihu Masters.In addition, the School has 1 National Vocational Education Teacher Teaching Innovation Team, 1 National Excellent Teaching Team,and 1 provincial excellent teaching team.

The teaching achievements of the School won 1 grand prize and 1 second prize of the National Vocational Education Achievement Award in 2018. The School has 2 high-level major groups approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the PRC, 2 major groups that are among the first batch of world-class key construction groups, 2 national-level teaching resource databases, and 3 teaching resources databases of Shenzhen Polytechnic University. Seven of its textbooks have been honored as the "Textbooks of the National 13^thFive-Year Plan". Among them, more than 400,000 volumes of the bookApplicationTechnologies of Single-chip Microcomputer,chiefly edited by Professor Wang Jingxia, have been issued, and it won the grand prize of the first National Textbook Award (Vocational and Continuing Education Group) granted by the MOE in 2021. Up to now, the School has cultivated a total of 205 technologists with HCIE certificates, 24 top technologists with RHCA certificates, and 226 technologists with CCIE certificates, ranking top among all universities and colleges in China.

In the past five years, the School has had 5 projects approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 7 projects at the provincial- and ministerial-level, 12 projects at the municipal- and department-level, 2 projects at the provincial and ministerial platform level, and 5 projects at the municipal and department platform level; undertook 82 technology transfer projects (projects funded through technical cooperation), with total paid-in scientific research funding of more than RMB 27 million; published more than 150 research papers, including 57 SCI papers; obtained 90 patents granted for inventions, 139 patents granted for utility models and appearance designs, and 241 software copyrights; completed 25 layout designs of integrated circuits.One of its teachers has won the second prize of the Guangdong Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

The School attaches great importance to cultivating students' innovative abilities and organizes students to participate in the National Vocational Students Skills Competition, Huawei College Students ICT Skills Contest, National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, and other competitions.Since 2011, it has won numerous awards of various levels, including 1 global championship, 1 global grand prize (the top prize), 2 national grand prizes, 25 national first prizes, and 96 provincial first prizes.

Also, it built anICT (Information Communication Technology) collaborative cultivation platformjointly with well-known enterprises such as Huawei, Cisco, and China Unicom; set up theHuawei Authorized Information and Network Academy and Huawei Authorized Cooperative Training Center; established close cooperative relationships with many enterprises and units, including Google, Amazon, 360 Enterprise Security Group, arm, EVOC, and Microsoft.

The School took the lead in establishing "Chongli Academy" to explore academy-style educational mode and the service model of "club + volunteer service". The Students' Affairs Office of the School has been awarded as "Excellent Team for College Students' Affairs in Guangdong Province".
