Faculties

Founded in 2004, the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering sets up five majors with six major fields, including Intelligent Connected Vehicle Technology, Automotive Electronics Technology (provincial second-brand major, including a major field of Electric Vehicle Technology and Automotive Electronics Technology), New Energy Vehicle Technology, Intelligent Transportation Technology Application (provincial second-brand major, including a major field of Drone Technology and Application), and Urban Rail Transit Operation and Management. At present, it has more than 1,300 full-time students. So far, the School has trained 5,406 full-time graduates who are favored by employers, with the graduate employment rate always above 96%. Since 2007, the School has signed agreements with 11 domestic colleges and universities to jointly train Master's Degree candidates. Up to date, it has enrolled 27 Master's Degree candidates. The School has two national quality courses, one provincial quality course, and one quality course of the National Teaching Steering Committee.

Currently, it has a faculty of 78 members, including 49 full-time teachers, seven teachers with high professional titles, 17 teachers with sub-senior professional titles, 23 Ph.D. holders, and seven returned overseas. Some teachers have won more than 20 national, provincial, and municipal honors, including the Best Instructor of the National "Invention Cup" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award for Students of Higher Vocational Colleges, Huang Yanpei Outstanding Teacher Award, Rising Star Teacher of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Provincial Leading Talent, Provincial Training Target of the "Thousand-Hundred-Ten Project" of Guangdong, Shenzhen's Top Ten Model Teachers with Best Professional Ethics, Shenzhen Municipal High-level Local Professionals, Shenzhen Municipal Excellent Teacher, Shenzhen Municipal Excellent Head Teacher, and Shenzhen Municipal Excellent Party Member.In addition to high academic background and high titles, most of the full-time teachers are proficient in occupational skills. In the School, more than 90% of full-time teachers hold two titles or certificates. One of the teachers has obtained a Master Automobile Technician certificate issued by Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) during the advanced study in the United States, becoming the first Master Automobile Technician certificate holder among teachers in higher vocational colleges. Meanwhile, this teacher has been a coach and expert of the Automobile Technology event of WorldSkills for consecutive five sessions (from the 42^ndsession to the present). Apart from a strongly competent full-time faculty team, the School has 149 part-time teachers with rich practical experience from leading enterprises in the industry.

The Training Base—Automotive and Transportation Technology Center was built in 1996, covering an area of 3,300 square meters, equipped with devices worth RMB 62.23 million. Beyond that, the School has provincial, municipal, and school-level scientific research platforms, including Guangdong Provincial New Energy Vehicle and Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Engineering Technology Development Center in Colleges and Universities, Shenzhen Municipal Vocational Certification and Training Platform for New Energy Vehicle Technology, Shenzhen Municipal Key Laboratory for Automobile Exhaust Testing and Control, Shenzhen Municipal Public Technical Service Platform for Testing and Certification of Automotive Electronics Products, and Shenzhen Polytechnic University Research Center for Automobile Emission Control and Electric Vehicle Technology, aiming to study energy conservation and new energy vehicle power system, safe automotive electronic technology, testing of automotive electronics products and automobile emissions, and other related fields, providing a favorable condition for entrepreneurship, innovation, and creation of both teachers and students.The School has established 98 off-campus training bases in Shenzhen and partnered with 128 designated enterprises for internships. It has cooperated with FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. to implement the program of "Audi Vocational School". In addition, it has closely worked with Shenzhen Metro Group and MTR Corporation (Shenzhen) Limited to open the "Metro Order Class" for talent training, becoming an urban rail transit training base in Guangdong.

The School actively explores the application-oriented model for higher vocational education and research and values industry-university-research cooperation, and the application, development, and achievement commercialization in scientific research. In recent five years, the School has undertaken 131 scientific research programs, including two National Natural Science Foundation programs, 10 provincial and ministerial programs, 30 municipal programs, and 59 crossing research programs, with the received funds of more than RMB 16 million; it has set up four programs to build key scientific research platforms above the municipal level, with the funds of more than RMB 20 million; it has obtained 120 national patents. The School's teachers engage in scientific research on and off campus, actively participate in government decision-making, and strive to serve local economic and social development. Meanwhile, the School takes full advantage of its superior resources to provide faculty training, vocational training, professional skill verification, and vocational qualification certification for more than 1,000 participants every year, becoming an important training base for technical service personnel in the automobile and transportation field in the Pearl River Delta.
