A Delegation Led by OBOR Chairman Visited SZPT

Date: Sep 25, 2023

The symposium was held in Mingde Building

On September 25, a delegation of six members led by Dr. István UJHELYI, Chairman of EU-China “Belt and Road” Committee on Culture, Education, Tourism and Economic and Trade Development (OBOR), visited our university. Li Yue, Vice President of SZPU, Li Xiaoyi, Secretary General of Shenzhen Battery Industry Association, Luo Dawei, Vice President of School of Materials and Environmental Engineering in SZPT, Yang Congkun, Deputy Director of International Office and other related persons held a symposium with the delegation in Mingde Building, Liuxiandong Campus.

At the symposium, Li Yue, on behalf of our university, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. She introduced the basic situation of the university and said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative. Education, as an important topic in the “Belt and Road” initiative, has become one of the crucial components in the relationship between China and Europe. The university has been actively serving the “Belt and Road” initiative and is looking forward to establishing a friendly partnership with OBOR, exploring cooperation in the lithium battery industry and other fields, innovating cooperation models, enriching cooperation connotations, and striving to create a “Belt and Road” vocational education demonstration program.

Dr. István UJHELYI expressed thanks to our university for the warm reception. He introduced that education cooperation is the most important part of cooperation and exchanges between countries, which can bridge the gap between different cultures and deepen mutual understanding. China’s technology is at the forefront of the world in many fields, representing the most advanced level of development in the world. Lots of outstanding Chinese enterprises have entered the Europe market, which also creates a large demand for local professionals with technical skills. Entrusted by the government, OBOR hopes to establish partnership with outstanding Chinese higher vocational colleges such as SZPU to meet the needs of economic and social development of the two countries. Later, Luo Dawei introduced the exploration and practice of Shenzhen Lithium Industry College, and the two sides had in-depth discussions on the development of international certificates, international curriculum co-construction, international talent training and other issues for the lithium industry.

It is reported that OBOR was incorporated in Brussels, Belgium, in 2015, as a non-governmental organization that aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between Europe and China in the field of culture and tourism and boost the construction of the “Belt and Road”. OBOR was jointly launched by Dr. István UJHELYI, Member of European Parliament and Vice Chairman of European Parliament’s Committee on Tourism and Transport, Bernard DeWit, Chairman of Belgium-China Economic and Trade Committee, and Eduardo Santander, Executive Chairman of European Commission on Tourism.
