On May 29, the Final of the 13th“Challenge Cup” Guangdong College Student Entrepreneurship Program came to an end. After intense online defense and expert evaluation, two teams composed of students from the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan students and international students at SZPT won the gold medal on the track of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan students and on the track of international students respectively.
The 13th“Challenge Cup” Guangdong College Student Entrepreneurship Program opened the track of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan students and the track of international students this year for the first time. Tang Kesheng, Director/Head (Dean) of International Office/Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office (School of International Exchange and Cooperation), attached great importance to this competition and took it as a good opportunity to show the innovation and entrepreneurship teaching achievements of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan students and international students of our college in Guangdong Province, and immediately held a department meeting to discuss the specific matters of team formation and competition. Under the circumstances of time pressure and lack of experience, the leaders of the International Office/Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office (School of International Exchange and Cooperation) and the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering took active action to drive forward the progress. Yao Ping, Responsible Teacher of International Office/Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office (School of International Exchange and Cooperation), and Shen Tong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, worked closely together to overcome various difficulties, and formed three teams in half a month, i.e. Teacher Wang Yongxue’s team (track of international students), Teacher Xue Yan’s team (track of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan students), and Teacher Zhang Xiujun’s team (track of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan students). Then, teachers and students of the three teams immediately threw themselves into hard preparations for the competition. Since the winter vacation, the three teams held online meetings many times and invited experts to guide them in polishing their works. Under the guidance of Wang Yongxue, international students were instructed from scratch to revise business plans and PPT again and again. Despite the COVID-19, Lu Zhong, an international student from 2019 Network Class 4 of the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, still took part in every training and project discussion activity online at home in Tajikistan. On the day of the final, he also participated in the online competition, and eventually his team won the gold medal in Guangdong Province.
With the joint efforts of the International Office/Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office (School of International Exchange and Cooperation) and the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, three teams went through multiple rounds of screening, and two teams were selected in the final, i.e. Teacher Wang Yongxue’s team (track of international students) and Teacher Xue Yan’s team (track of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan students). Although the competition was postponed due to COVID-19, teachers and students of the two teams overcame various difficulties and refined their works again and again. Eventually, both of them won the gold medal in the final on May 29. This shows the spirit of unity and cooperation between the International Office/Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office (School of International Exchange and Cooperation) and the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, and also marks a new breakthrough in the internationalization work of SZPT and the School of International Exchange and Cooperation.
Keep pioneering to fly the dream of youth, and step ahead to lead the new era. In the following competitions, the promoted teams will continue to work hard and strive to shine on the stage of the national competition.
