On January 8-9, the Automotive Technology Competition (Higher Vocational Group) of 2021-2022 Professional Skills Competition for Vocational College Students in Guangdong Province hosted by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and organized by Shenzhen Polytechnic was held successfully at Xilihu Campus. Liu Longhao, a contestant from the major of New Energy Vehicle Technology in our college, won the first place in the competition.

Due to the recent pandemic in many places of Guangdong Province, the preparation for this competition was faced with huge challenges. To ensure the smooth holding of the competition, the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering carried out strict epidemic prevention and control over nearly 200 personnel including more than 40 participating colleges, technical support, and referees of the competition. In the 14 days before the competition, relevantpersonnel were required to conduct health monitoring and report every day. Teachers from the major of New Energy Vehicle Technology checked the health report of relevant persons every day to ensure that all persons met the requirements of epidemic prevention and control. Under the joint efforts of teachers and students, the competition went smoothly with well-arranged schedule, and was successfully completed as expected. The preparatory work of our college was highly recognized by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, while experts and referees gave high praise for the strict prevention and control, meticulous preparation and thoughtful work arrangement of the competition.

Electrification, intelligence and interconnection have become the new direction leading the development of automobile industry. New energy intelligent connected automobile is one of the six emerging sectors of strategic importance in China as defined by the “14^thFive-Year” Plan. The competition set up three modules, i.e., “engine management technology”, “electric vehicle technology” and “intelligent technology”, adapting to the trend of technological and industrial development, which is of great significance to promote the teaching reform and the integration of industry and education in vocational colleges, and to improve the quality of talent cultivation in automotive technology related majors.
