On December 23, the 2021 National Industry Vocational Skills Competition - the 3rd National Electronic Information Industry New Technology Application Vocational Skills Competition for Computer Programmers (5G+MR Resource Development) National Finals kicked off in the gymnasium of Xilihu Campus. The finals were guided by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, co-sponsored by China Quality Management Association for Electronics Industry, and China Employment Training Technical Instruction Centre, and organized by Shenzhen Polytechnic. A total of 136 student and staff contestants from 14 provinces and 68 teams participated in the competition,

which aims to promote the healthy and rapid development of China's new generation of information technology, enhance the level of 5G and MR technical skills personnel, and deepen the industry application of new technologies. Guided by the needs of industrial enterprises, the competition examines contestants' professional technical ability in virtual reality, teamwork ability, planning and organizing ability, and equipment operation skills, and is divided into two parts: theoretical knowledge contest and practical operation contest. Theoretical knowledge contest mainly examines the contestants' knowledge of multimedia works development, knowledge of virtual reality principles, and development ability of virtual reality application, etc. The practical operation contest is based on the technical skill requirements of virtual reality engineers and technicians, the production conditions of enterprises, and the virtual reality technology level. Drawing on the proposing method and assessment content of the skills competitions worldwide, it appropriately adds examination of new knowledge, new technology, new equipment, and new skills to strengthen the safety and environmental awareness of the contestants.

The opening ceremony of the competition was hosted by Cheng Cong, Secretary-general of the Virtual Reality Special Committee of China Quality Management Association for Electronics Industry. The opening ceremony was attended by Liang Zhaofeng, Director of Academic Affairs Office, Yang Jinfeng, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence, Chi Ruinan, Vice President of the School of Artificial Intelligence, Xu Anlin, Dean of Wuxi Institute of Technology, Chen Lihua, Professor of Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology, Liu Xiaodong, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Shadow Creator Information Technology Co., Ltd., Wang Tao, General Manager of Shanghai Teach Forward Information Technology Co., Ltd., as well as contestants and tutors from other participating institutions.

Liang Zhaofeng said in his speech that new technologies, new applications, new business models are emerging, and the new generation of information technology is applicable to various industries. He added that this competition will better promote the spirit of labor, the spirit of model workers, and the spirit of craftsmen, inspire more workers, especially young people, to become talented through skills and serve the country, cultivate more highly skilled personnel and great craftsmen, and promote high-quality development of employment and entrepreneurship in China. As the organizer, Shenzhen Polytechnic will live up to the expectations, uphold the purpose of the event, provide quality technology and services for the competition, and make every effort to ensure the smooth implementation of the competition. Shenzhen Polytechnic will also take the opportunity of hosting this skill competition to consolidate the professional construction and talent training connotation, and cultivate more talents with high-quality skills to meet the needs of new technology development.

Liu Xiaodong, a representative of the enterprise, said that the skill competition is significant and will play an active role in the training and selection of talents with high-quality skills in the field of mixed reality and augmented reality. He hoped that the competition will promote talent cultivation, stimulate the innovation and creativity of talents, and provide a strong talent guarantee for accelerating the construction of modern industrial system and promoting high-quality economic development.
