On November 30, the signing ceremony of cooperation between Shenzhen Polytechnic and Aier Eye Hospital Group was held in Conference Room 1 of Tongde Building, Liuxiandong Campus. At the ceremony, the two parties jointly unveiled the Shenzhen Polytechnic-Aier Eye Hospital Group Shenzhen East Teaching Hospital, Shenzhen Polytechnic Dual Teacher Workstation, and Aier Eye Hospital Part-time Teacher Mobile Station. The current "East Shenzhen Aier Eye Hospital" will be officially named as "Shenzhen Polytechnic Optometry Teaching Hospital", and Shenzhen Polytechnic-Aier Eye Hospital Optometry Class will be opened. Shenzhen Polytechnic and Aier Eye Hospital Group intend to cultivate at least 300 high-quality comprehensive technical talent with optometric medical technology and medical management capabilities in 10 years during the first cooperation period.

With the rapid economic and social development, eye health problems sharply increased, and problems such as myopia and elderly eye diseases are happening in lower age groups. At present, there is a serious shortage of nearly 300,000 optometric professionals in China, and people's needs for treating eye health problems can hardly be met. The cooperation agreement between the two parties will enable accurate "integration" between vocational education and industrial development through co-construction of teaching hospitals, co-cultivation of talents, co-construction of teacher teams, co-promotion of scientific research, and intellectual property cooperation and will also gain new forces for the eye health of people. The two parties will also jointly establish an industry technical standard and qualification certification mechanism based on the specification of clinical technical requirements for optometry, solving the problem of lacking talent justification standards in the optometric industry.

Chen Biao, Director of Shenzhen Commission for the Care of Children, expressed his sincere expectations for this cooperation. He hoped that Shenzhen Polytechnic and Aier EYE Hospital Group could strengthen cooperation, implement the fundamental task of training talent, promote medical and educational integration, and make new contributions to youth myopia prevention and control.

Xu Jianling, President of Shenzhen Polytechnic, said that the School of Medicine of Shenzhen Polytechnic, establishing its major of optometry in 2004, cooperated with 16 hospitals and enterprises for co-construction projects and was selected as a member unit of the National Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee for optometric education, delivering a large number of technical optometric talent to Shenzhen and surrounding areas. In this cooperation with Aier Eye Hospital Group, Shenzhen Polytechnic will focus on in-depth co-construction of teaching hospitals, strengthening talent cultivation and teacher team construction, and promoting students' internship employment so as to provide strong talent and intellectual support for the development of the optometric industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

As a mentor representative of enterprises, Professor Sima Jing, Vice President of Shenzhen Aier Eye Hospital, said that the cultivation of professional talent will always be an important part of Aier Eye Hospital Group's development. Next, Shenzhen Aier Eye Hospital will put more effort and invest more resources in promoting the development and improvement of scientific and technological research work in collaboration with Shenzhen Polytechnic and other colleges and universities, thus improving the level of clinical services.

"The building of the 'Hospital-College Collaboration' platform of Aier Eye Hospital Group and Shenzhen Polytechnic is of profound significance to both parties and the ophthalmic industry", said Professor Yang Zhikuan, Deputy Leader of the Optometry Group of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Doctoral Supervisor of the Academy of Ophthalmology of Central South University. According to him, Aier Eye Hospital Group will continue to give full play to the advantages of the scientific, educational, and research integration platform and continuously and actively cooperate with Shenzhen Polytechnic based on the talent and teaching advantages, so that the multi-dimensional strategy of scientific research construction and talent cultivation can be implemented. The group will also continue to exercise the significant mission of "eye health for all, poor or wealthy".

Notably, the two parties also launched the "Million-level Education Project for Myopia Prevention and Control and Optometry", which will subsidize the optometry education in universities and the scientific research of myopia prevention and control with investment and resources, and promote the comprehensive integration of teaching, clinical application, scientific research, and industry.
