After four days of fierce competition, on September 19, the 2^nd Vocational Skills Competition of the People’s Republic of China was concluded in Tianjin. 7 SZPT students won 1 silver, 2 bronze and 3 excellence awards. Among them, the student He Peixu from the School of Foreign Languages and Business won the silver medal in “Hotel Reception”, the student Li Wentao from the School of Management won the bronze medal in “Restaurant Service”, and the teachers Zeng Qiming and Wang Xiaoting from the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering won the bronze medal in “Integrated Circuit Engineering Technology”.

In this competition, SZPT sent a total of 8 contestants to participate in 7 events on behalf of Guangdong Province, including 4 selection events for the World Competition and 3 selection events for the National competition. The four contestants for the World Competition are all students from the School of Foreign Languages and Business, the School of Management and the School of Construction Engineering. The three contestants for the National competition are all teachers from the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering and the School of Artificial Intelligence.

It is reported that, the Vocational Skills Competition of the People’s Republic of China is a comprehensive national vocational skills competition with the highest specifications, the most items, the largest scale, the highest level and the most extensive influence since the founding of New China, referred to as the “National Games” of vocational skills competition in China. With the theme of “becoming skilled talents to serve the country”, the competition has set 109 events, including 62 events for the World Competition and 47 events of the National Competition. A total of 4045 contestants of 36 teams from all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and related industries participated in the competition.

According to the award policy of the competition, the top 5 contestants in each individual event of the competition will be granted the title of “National Technical Expert” after approval, and the certificate of vocational skills (professional technology) will be issued in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. At the same time, according to the selection rules of the World Competition, the top 5 contestants in the individual event will be selected into China Training Team of the 47^th World Skills Competition. All of our contestants participating in the four events of hotel reception, restaurant service, floriculture, health and social care have entered the national training team and compete for the tickets of the 47th World Skills Competition to be held in France.

During the preparation period, SZPT took the initiative to contact the event training bases and supporting enterprises, and set up a training environment to match the new standards, new techniques and new technologies of the National Competition. Meanwhile, we introduced wisdom and trained talents in many ways, actively sought the guidance of the national expert group leaders and the national team coaches of the World Competition, and formulated personalized training programs for contestants to effectively improve their technical skills and competition strength. SZPT will continue to promote education through competition and promote learning through competition, and drive curriculum and practical training standards to be in line with the forefront of the industry. In the meantime, the university will deepen the integration of production and education, promote school-enterprise cooperation, improve the evaluation and assessment mechanism of skilled talents, smooth the career development channel, and help our students become skilled talents to serve the country.
