On April 14-16, the “Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Testing” segment of 2022-2023 Guangdong Vocational College Students Skills Competition, sponsored by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, was held in Nanhai Campus of Guangdong Industry Polytechnic. A total of 58 teams of 116 contestants and 98 instructors from 31 vocational colleges across the province participated in the segment. After three days of fierce competition, the students Ni Xiaoqing from 2020 Food Inspection Class 1 and Jin Xiaoying from 2020 Food Inspection Class 2, instructed by our teachers Li Xiaoting and Li Bin, and the students Peng Shiqi from 2020 Food Inspection Class 1 and Chen Qiurong from 2020 Food Inspection Class 2, instructed by the teachers Huang Luelue and Zhang Zhengwei, both won the first prize.
The segment included the detection of organophosphorus pesticide residues in vegetables and the detection of heavy metals in tea, covering multiple dimensions such as sample pretreatment, instrument operation, theory testing and simulation, showing the professional skills and professionalism of our students majoring in Food Quality and Safety, and perfectly explaining the “spirit of craftsmanship” of pursuing excellence and striving for perfection.
