Two works of Institute of Cultural and Creative Products won the silver medal of Fashion Design in Shenzhen Global Design Awards

On April 27, Shenzhen Global Design Awards announced results in Shenzhen. The 2023 Shenzhen Global Design Awards, sponsored by the organizing committee of Shenzhen Design Week and Global Design Awards, and organized by Shenzhen Innovative and Creative Design Development Office, received 5,198 entries submitted by designers from 22 countries and regions. After careful and professional selection by a panel composed of 20 international judges, the two works of the Institute of Cultural and Creative Products, i.e. “In Full Bloom” (cultural and creative product design) and “A String” (handmade ceramic jewelry), won the silver medal of Fashion Design.

“In Full Bloom” (cultural and creative product design) uses Bougainvillea, the city flower with the most urban characteristics in Shenzhen, as the design element, and silk and porcelain with the most Chinese cultural attributes as the carrier; the hand-painted Bougainvillea shape and the abstract city flower graphics are combined to form a cultural and creative product, which represents the regional symbol of Shenzhen and can enrich the urban life style of Shenzhen and improve the aesthetic level of people’s life. Meanwhile, the work fuses the indomitable and gorgeous spiritual characteristics of Bougainvillea, which implies the brilliant achievements of decades of reform and opening up in Shenzhen and the momentum of endeavor to create a better future. The work, with its unique design concept and exquisite craftsmanship, stood out from the evaluation and successfully won the silver medal of Fashion Design. “A String” (handmade ceramic jewelry), which also won the silver medal of Fashion Design, is a creative design that links traditional ceramic handicraft with contemporary fashion life. Each ceramic bead is made of pure hand-made clay sculpture and fired at 1,300 degrees Celsius, which is unique. Each handmade ceramic bead is a perfect dialogue between designers and nature. The work carries the artistic characteristics and temperature of handicraft, as well as the DIY characteristics favored by the current fashion young people, bringing unique aesthetic experience to the wearers.

It is reported that Shenzhen Global Design Awards is an international design event, attracting many top designers and excellent works from home and abroad. The Institute of Cultural and Creative Products of SZPT won the silver medal of Fashion Design with its excellent strength and innovation in the field of design. This honor will strongly promote the college to make greater breakthroughs in the development of cultural and creative sectors, and constantly enhance the influence of SZPT in the field of design.
