Recently, the “Costume Design and Craft” segment of 2022-2023 Guangdong Vocational College Students Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group), sponsored by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, was held at Gaoming Campus of Guangdong Polytechnic. The two teams from the School of Art and Design, composed of Pang Rui and Wu Airong, as well as Li Jinyu and Zhang Ziyu, instructed by the teachers Yang Qiuhua and Zeng Shinan, as well as Cao Yupei and Li Jiani, respectively, won two first prizes on the provincial level. One of the teams entered the selection of this year’s national competition, achieving a historic breakthrough of the costume major in this segment. The “Costume Design and Craft” segment matches the real working scene and job demand of enterprises, and selects professional talents of costume by drawing lessons from the concept of the World Skills Competition. The competition is designed to test the general skills and professional abilities of students in costume design, patterning, production and other positions, and the planning, organization and collaboration abilities of participating teams.
Recently, the “Jewelry and Jade Appraisal” segment of 2022-2023 Guangdong Vocational College Students Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group), sponsored by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, were held in Guangzhou Panyu Polytechnic. Under the guidance of the teachers Huang Xu and Yuan Tala from the jewelry major of the School of Art and Design, the students Wang Yutong, Luo Zhilin and Chen Weixuan, as well as Chen Miaoru, Chi Jieying and Li Hui, formed two teams and won two second prizes at the provincial level (taking the htrid and fourth place respectively). One of the teams will participate in this year’s national competition. This segment includes individual and team parts for dual assessment on the special ability of individuals and the comprehensive appraisal ability of teams, requiring the contestants to have a solid professional foundation, technical skills, and also team competition ability.
Recently, the Grand Final of 2022 National College Interior Design Skills Competition, sponsored by the China National Interior Decoration Association and supported by the Art and Design Teaching Steering Committee for Vocational Colleges under the Ministry of Education, was held in Beijing Polytechnic. The team from the School of Art and Design, composed of the students Li Wangxing and Hu Hao, instructed by the teachers Wan Danjun and Xiang Dong, won the first prize and ranked fifth among 120 teams of vocational colleges nationwide. The Interior Design Skills Competition takes real project as the theme, and focuses on the contestants’ basic ability, design and presentation skills, innovation and creativity and other comprehensive qualities and practical abilities.
