On March 18-20 and April 14-16, the “Health and Social Care” and “Pension Service Skills” segments of 2022-2023 Guangdong Vocational College Students Skills Competition, sponsored by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, were successfully held in Guangzhou Health Science College respectively. He Xinnan, a 2021 student majoring in Smart Health Pension Service and Management instructed by the teacher Niu Geng from the School of Medical Technology and Nursing, won the first prize in the “Health and Social Care” segment, and Peng Shiqi, a 2021 student majoring in Smart Health Pension Service and Management instructed by the teacher Jin Xiao, won the first prize in “Pension Service Skills” segment.
“Health and Social Care” and “Pension Service Skills” are two important competitions in response to the national strategy of actively coping with the aging population and the high-quality development of the big health industry, testing the education and teaching results of pension service and management and related majors in higher vocational colleges, and deepening the deep integration between the training of pension service talents in vocational colleges with the industries and sectors. Among them, the “Health and Social Care” segment is also a world vocational skills competition. This “Health and Social Care” segment covers two care settings: home care and day care center. The competition contents include a number of health care practices, health poster drawings and reflection report writings, designed to comprehensively examine the contestants’ understanding and application of the knowledge, concepts and skills of health and social care. The “Pension Service Skills” segment focuses on the home care, including the technical operations and continuous improvement care plan writings of three themes: life care, basic care and rehabilitation services, and evaluate the contestants’ ability to construct core skills, professional quality and humanistic care based on typical work tasks.
