On March 30, the first China Standardization Conference (2023) was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The “2022 China Standard Innovation Contribution Award”, the highest award in the field of national standardization, was granted at the conference. The three standards, including ISO 15746-1:2015 “Advanced Control and Optimization Software Integration for Automation Systems and Integrated Manufacturing Systems - Part 1: Framework and Functional Model”, jointly formulated by SZPT and eight institutions, including Zhejiang University, Beijing Research Institute of Automation for Machinery Industry Co., Ltd., and the Third Institute of the Ministry of Public Security, won the first prize of the Standard Project Award. Lu Shan, a researcher from the Institute of Intelligent Science and Engineering of our college, won the award as the main author.

The “China Standard Innovation Contribution Award” is China’s highest national honor in the field of standardization, with an aim to recognize organizations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions in standardization activities, held every two years, and winning the award marks reaching the highest level in the field in China. It is reported that a total of 10 first prizes, 20 second prizes and 30 third prizes of China Standard Innovation Contribution Award were granted. After preliminary nomination and recommendation, expert review, result announcement, deliberation by the leading group of China Standard Innovation Contribution Award and approval by the State Administration for Market Regulation, the three standards, including ISO 15746-1:2015 “Advanced Control and Optimization Software Integration for Automation Systems and Integrated Manufacturing Systems - Part 1: Framework and Functional Model”, formulated by our college as the third unit, won the first prize of the Standard Project Award.
The award-winning ISO 15746 “Advanced Control and Optimization Software Integration for Automation Systems and Integrated Manufacturing Systems” international standards are composed of three parts. The standard project, as the first APC-O international standard that is fully developed by China, originally proposed four independent core technologies including APC-O modular architecture integration technology, broke through the global technical barriers of APC-O software integration and interoperability, and solved the common problem of the industry that the intelligent manufacturing industry software urgently needs a unified standard. The APC-O technology theme has been cited in seven national documents, including the “14th Five-Year Plan for Intelligent Manufacturing Development” and “Guidelines for the Construction of National Intelligent Manufacturing Standard System”, with extensive participation of stakeholders from manufacturing powers such as the United States, Japan and Germany. Through the implementation of these standards, related enterprises are generally driven to save energy by more than 5% and reduce emissions by more than 10%, reaching the national energy efficiency benchmark level. It is of great significance to enhance the international competitiveness of China’s intelligent manufacturing and ensure the security of national industries.
Standard setting in the field of automation system and integration is an important industry-university-research cooperation direction for the Institute of Intelligent Science and Engineering at SZPT. The research team has carried out long-term cutting-edge research accumulation and application development in the field of manufacturing informatization and intelligence. It has been approved as the production control and optimization technology innovation team of intelligent factory in colleges and universities of Guangdong Province, and has been funded by the Comprehensive Standardization and New Mode Application of Intelligent Manufacturing under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Key Research and Development Program under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation and other programs. Since 2018, the Institute of Intelligent Science and Engineering has been involved in the formulation of more than 10 international/national industry standards in related fields; and has made a number of breakthroughs in the international field, and participated in the editing and publishing of ISO 15746 and ISO 22549 as two important international standards, highly recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Standards Committee. Lu Shan, a researcher from the Institute of Intelligent Science and Engineering, has been an expert member of Technical Committee for Automation Systems and Integration of International Organization for Standardization (ISO/TC184) since 2014. In December 2022, the ISO Technical Committee voted to establish the ISO/TC184/SC5/WG17 “Heterogeneous Manufacturing Platform Simulation Collaborative Environment” working group; this working group was convened by Shenzhen Polytechnic, and Lu Shan served as the convenor. He has become the fourth Chinese representative convenor of ISO/TC184 Technical Committee for Automation Systems and Integration (the other three units were from Zhejiang University, Haier Group and National Machine Tool Quality Supervision and Inspection Center), and will take the lead in organizing related enterprises and scientific research institutions to jointly develop a new international standard in this field.
The first prize of China Standard Innovation Contribution Award is an important measure for the college to connect with the new trend of scientific and technological development, execute Shenzhen’s innovation and development concept, and implement the urban strategy of “Shenzhen Standards” proposed by the Shenzhen municipal government. It is also a milestone in the standardization work of our college. In the future, we will continue to increase support for standardization work, strive to break through the bottleneck of standardization development, boost the transition of standard setting for related industries in Shenzhen from a “follower” to a “leader”, make standard innovation to drive the high-quality development of local industries, and contribute more to the construction of local enterprise digitization and the promotion of manufacturing enterprise informatization.
