On March 19th, a delegation of eight, led by Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Vice President, Mah Wee Beng, visited SZPU for an exchange visit. SZPU's Vice President, Li Yue, warmly welcomed the delegation in the Mingde Building meeting room, with Wang Bingfeng, the Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, chairing the meeting.
During the meeting, Li Yue extended a warm welcome to the visitors and introduced the basic situation of the school, its educational characteristics, school-enterprise cooperation, overseas partnerships, and the school's international outreach. She expressed hope that, based on the solid foundation of past cooperation, both sides would continue to deepen the substance of their collaboration. This includes diversifying forms of cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and school-enterprise partnerships, expanding areas of cooperation, innovating modes of cooperation, and enriching the content of cooperation to promote the advancement and development of vocational education collaboration between the two schools.
Mah Wee Beng thanked SZPU for its warm reception and highly commended the school's educational standards. He introduced the situation of school-enterprise cooperation at Ngee Ann Polytechnic and looked forward to further comprehensive and pragmatic cooperation with SZPU in the future.
Subsequently, the Vice Deans of SZPU’s School of Telecommunications, School of Food and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and School of Economics, Yu Fei, Huang Luelue, and Xiao Ling respectively, introduced the development of their schools and specialties. Both parties conducted in-depth discussions on establishing an ASEAN cooperation and exchange alliance, research cooperation projects, and student exchange activities, reaching consensus on multiple cooperation aspects.
Additionally, the Ngee Ann Polytechnic delegation visited 47 teachers and students from their institution who were participating in a short-term exchange program at SZPU and toured the school's Maker Center. The delegation unanimously praised the SZPU students’ independently developed 3D works displayed at the Maker Center student work exhibition.
SZPU established an exchange and cooperation relationship with Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2017. Since then, both institutions have conducted a rich array of exchange activities in teacher and student exchanges, course cooperation, and more. In 2023, Ngee Ann Polytechnic sent 48 teachers and students to SZPU for a two-week overseas immersion exchange program. In March 2024, they continued this initiative by sending another 47 teachers and students for the overseas immersion exchange program.
Ngee Ann Polytechnic was established in 1963 and is a tertiary education institution directly under the Singapore Ministry of Education. Since its inception, the polytechnic has grown and developed, gradually forming a coordinated development pattern across multiple disciplines including life sciences, engineering, economics, media, information technology, humanities, and nursing. Today, Ngee Ann Polytechnic comprises ten schools offering 43 disciplines, with over 15,000 students currently enrolled. (International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Xia Jingyi)
