On February 26th, a delegation of joint PhD supervisors from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, led by the Dean of the Graduate School, Cao Jiannong, visited SZPU for a research exchange. Yang Xinbin, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Xu Jianling, President of SZPU, warmly welcomed the visiting delegation. The symposium was chaired by Vice President Zhang Zuotai.

During the symposium, President Xu Jianling extended a warm welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced the school's educational situation from aspects such as its educational history, talent cultivation, social services, and international cooperation. He expressed gratitude to PolyU for their support and guidance in the joint PhD program, affirming SZPU's commitment to further cooperation, particularly in scientific research collaboration, academic exchange, and student exchange programs, aiming to deepen cooperation efforts. Subsequently, the Research Office provided a special report on relevant situations including research scale, research platforms, talent teams, and the joint PhD program.

The symposium took place in Room 109 of the Mingde Building.

In his speech, Cao Jiannong emphasized that his visit to SZPU marked the third occasion since last year, and he commended the remarkable progress achieved by the university across all domains. He praised SZPU for its top-notch research equipment, cutting-edge research platforms, and outstanding talent teams, expressing confidence that the collaboration on joint PhD programs would undoubtedly yield fruitful outcomes.

Both sides' supervisors briefly introduced their respective disciplinary areas and research directions, engaging in preliminary discussions. Some doctoral supervisors expressed their intention to cooperate, and the next steps involve strengthening communication to enhance mutual understanding and advance doctoral enrollment-related work.

In his concluding remarks, Yang Xinbin pointed out that SZPU and PolyU are both located in the Greater Bay Area, sharing common development experiences, industrial foundations, governance philosophies, and development goals. He expressed hope to establish a regular communication mechanism for joint PhD supervisors, enhance the research and teaching capabilities of SZPU supervisors, jointly conduct major research projects and talent training programs, strengthen interdisciplinary and cross-domain cooperation, and promote academic exchanges and technological cooperation to broaden academic horizons and enhance international influence.

Before the meeting, the delegation visited the Future Technology Institute, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Applications, the Center for Innovation in Food and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Institute of Key Materials for Integrated Circuits, and the Hoffman Advanced Materials Research Institute.
