On the morning of January 11, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Shenshan Campus project of Shenzhen Polytechnic University (hereinafter referred to as "SZPU") was successfully held in the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, marking the official entry of the project into the substantive construction phase. Positioned to serve Shenzhen and radiate across the Bay Area while being rooted in Shenshan, the campus is being constructed according to Shenzhen standards and the "SZPU model", aiming to provide intellectual support for regional economic and industrial development and to empower and enhance regional revitalization.

The construction project of SZPU's Shenshan Campus is a significant initiative by Shenzhen to support the revitalization of the Shanwei revolutionary old district and to achieve educational resource sharing. Located in Dashuikou Village, Chishi Town, Shenshan Cooperation Zone, the project spans a total area of 100.14 hectares, including 53.24 hectares for construction and 46.9 hectares for management purposes, with a building area of about 636,300 square meters. The campus plans to accommodate a scale of 15,000 students, with partial completion expected in 2026 and full completion by 2027.

The Shenshan Campus is planned to house six schools, including the School of Automotive and Intelligent Manufacturing, School of Electronics and Network Engineering, School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, School of Smart City Engineering, School of New Energy Engineering, and School of Materials and Environmental Engineering. Aligning with the industrial layout of the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, it will offer 33 majors such as automotive manufacturing and testing technology, industrial robot technology, electronic information engineering technology, big data technology, integrated circuit technology, new energy equipment technology, and energy storage material technology.

In his speech, Mr. Xu Jianling expressed sincere gratitude to the Municipal Committee, Municipal Government, and the Management Committee of the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, among others. He stated that the construction of the Shenshan Campus is a crucial step towards advancing the high-end development of vocational education in Shenzhen and striving for world-class status, as well as meeting the urgent needs for high-quality development in the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone. The university will fully commit to aligning with national and local development strategies and the industrial development needs of the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, ensuring the project's timely completion and operation. Efforts will be made to develop the campus with distinctive features and high standards, supporting the industrial development of the Shenshan Cooperation Zone and contributing to Shenzhen's goal of becoming a strong educational city.

Mr. Du Weiping stated that, as the project construction management unit, they bear a significant responsibility and an honorable mission. The Construction Bureau will diligently implement the decisions and arrangements of the Municipal Committee and Municipal Government, advancing the project construction in a comprehensive, systematic, and orderly manner. They are committed to completing the construction tasks safely, efficiently, and with high quality, through unity and collaboration, meticulous construction, and scientific management. This ensures that the Shenshan Campus project will be safely and timely built into a high-quality, high-standard, and high-efficiency model project, setting an example and benchmark for excellence.

Mr. Wu Qubo stated that the high-quality development of the cooperation zone is inseparable from the support of education, especially vocational education. The establishment of SZPU in Shenshan is crucial for the development of this new city, promising to leverage synergies and achieve greater than the sum of its parts. The cooperation zone will adhere to the principle of "special handling for special issues, quick handling for urgent issues", fully supporting the project to ensure its early completion, utilization, and effectiveness.

According to reports, the SZPU Shenshan Campus project commenced construction in April 2020; land requisition and demolition started at the end of 2021; in June 2022, the project received preliminary land use and site selection approvals; in April 2023, the project was officially transferred to the Shenzhen Construction Bureau; and in November 2023, the "four-in-one" feasibility report was approved by the Municipal Development and Reform Commission. Currently, relevant participating units are actively pushing forward the subsequent construction of the project, aiming for partial completion in 2026 and full completion by 2027. By then, a world-class digital and beautiful campus will rise, playing a significant role in supporting talent and intellectual development for the economic and social development of the Shenshan Cooperation Zone.
