UniTec Vice Presidents Led a Delegation to Visit SZPU

On November 15, a delegation of 8 members led by Andrew McSweeney and Paora Ammunson, two vice presidents fromInstitute of Technology (UniTec), visited our university. SZPU Vice President Li Yue had talks with the delegation in Mingde Building. Wang Bingfeng, Director of International Office, and Zhu Xiaochun, Deputy Dean of School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering, attended the meeting.

On behalf of SZPU, Li Yue extended a warm welcome to the delegation. She introduced SZPU’s running situation, focusing on our cooperation with international communities, particularly with colleges and universities in New Zealand. She mentioned that in August this year, witnessed by the ministers of education of the two countries, the Center for Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchanges of theMinistry of Education and theInstitute of Technology in New Zealand signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the Establishment of China-New Zealand Vocational Education Development Alliance. The university is very honored to serve as the Chinese council member of the alliance, and is responsible for the relevant work of the New Energy Vehicle Committee. It is believed that with joint efforts, the two sides will give full play to their respective advantages and make contributions to the greater development of China-New Zealand relations in the new era with practical results.

McSweeney was very pleased to visit SZPU. He mentioned that there are 16 public polytechnics in New Zealand, and since April 2020, 16 polytechnics and 9 industry training institutions have followed the trend of the national vocational education reform in New Zealand by integrating vocational and applied education resources and merging into one national institution - Institute of Technology in New Zealand. He said that after the merger, Institute of Technology will have a larger scale and more disciplines, and he looked forward to carrying out in-depth cooperation with SZPU.

Subsequently, representatives of the two sides held in-depth discussions on the major of new energy vehicles and the construction of overseas vocational education and training centers, and reached an intention of cooperation.

Before the meeting, the delegation visited BYD Academy of Applied Technology and fully affirmed the mode of industry-education integration at SZPU. (Li Simin, International Office)
