On November 15-17, the first sports meeting of SZPU was held in the stadium of Liuxiandong, Xili Campus. SZPU Party Secretary Yang Xinbin, President Xu Jianling, Deputy Party Secretary & Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection Wang Hui and other leaders attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was chaired by Vice President Dong Chaojun.

The sports meeting was themed by: Building dreams in SZPU for sailing to the future. Along with the grand sports march, the national flag guard, the referee phalanx, 18 student teams and 25 staff teams entered the venue successively in good spirits, with neat paces, loud slogans, and big strides through the rostrum for review, showing the unique vitality of SZPU members.

Xu Jianling delivered an opening speech for the sports meeting. First of all, he expressed warm congratulations on the successful convening of the sports meeting, and sincere thanks to the teachers and students who worked hard in the preparations for the sports meeting. Then, he introduced the remarkable achievements of our sports work from the aspects of sports teaching, sports events, supporting facilities and sports atmosphere. Finally, he hoped that all the participants would vigorously promote the Chinese sportsmanship, show their superb sports skills and good spiritual outlook, and jointly write a wonderful chapter that challenges the limit and outdo ourselves!

The sports meeting fully demonstrated the superb sports skills and good spiritual outlook of our teachers and students

After fierce competition, a total of 243 medals were won among 2,359 athletes in 35 events by 8 divisions, including 81 gold medals, 81 silver medals, and 81 bronze medals; 12 organizations including the School of Foreign Languages and Business won the best organization award, and 12 organizations including the School of Communication won the sportsmanship award; the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Artificial Intelligence, the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, the School of Management, the School of Construction Engineering, and the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering won the top six places in the total score by student group. The labor unions of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Foreign Languages and Business, the School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, the School of Artificial Intelligence, the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering, and the Industrial Center won the top six places in the total score by faculty group.

Wang Hui delivered a closing speech for the sports meeting. She fully affirmed the success of the first sports meeting held by SZPU, and hoped that the teachers and students of the university would continue to practice the concept of scientific fitness, actively participate in sports activities, develop a civilized lifestyle, jointly create a good atmosphere for national fitness, and constantly open up a new situation in the university’s sports cause, so as to provide a strong boost for accelerating the construction of a world-class vocational and technical university with Chinese characteristics!
