100-Person Forum on Modern Vocational Education Practice in China Held in SZPT

Industry-education integration, science-education integration: a new path for strengthening the national through vocational education

On May 18, 100-Person Forum on Modern Vocational Education Practice in China was successfully held in SZPT. The forum was sponsored by the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education and the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and organized by our college. 100 experts and scholars from science and technology, economy, industry, education and other sectors, national artisans and craftsmen, young talents, and representatives from vocational colleges and universities were invited to have in-depth discussions under the theme of “Industry-education integration, science-education integration: a new path for strengthening the national through vocational education”, and reach a consensus on promoting the high-quality development of modern vocational education.

It is reported that, the forum aims to take the thought of socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the new era as the guidance to deeply study and implement the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress, and the spirit of the General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on education work, focus on deepening the reform of modern vocational education system construction, closely follow the practice of modern vocational education in China in the new era, gather typical cases of vocational education serving the national strategy, serving the regional economic and social development, serving the all-round development of people, and serving the community of human destiny, pool the wisdom of all, tell the Chinese story of modern vocational education, and further improve the ability and level of modern vocational education serving the cause of the Party and thenation.

Lu Xin, President of Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education and former Vice Minister of Education, attended the forum and delivered a speech. She pointed out that the development orientation of the 100-Person Forum is to build a platform to gather talents from all sides, a think tank capable of serving the vocational education decision-making of the Party Group of the Ministry of Education, a case librarywith wisdom to summarize and refine vocational education practice, a talent pool conducive to discovering and cultivating young teachers, and a new carrier for telling the story of China’s vocational education. In the keynote speech session, Lu Xin, with the title of “Gathering forces from all walks of life to jointly promote the high-quality development of vocational education”, made a profound interpretation of “How to build a strong country through vocational education” from five aspects: the orientation of vocational education from the historical perspective, the ideas of reform and development goals, the main tasks of implementing reform, the important measures of implementing tasks, and the positioning of deepening system reform. Lu Xin pointed out that modern vocational education should insist on facing the world’s scientific and technological frontier, facing the main battlefield of economy, facing the major needs of the country, facing the life and health of the people, and providing Chinese practice, Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions for the development of world vocational education; should “look beyond vocational education”, deepen the integration of industry and education, promote the interaction of industry and education, achieve common progress, common growth and common development of government, industry, school and enterprise, effectively solve the difficulties, blocking points, pain points and other problems in industrial economic development, enhance the core competitiveness of manufacturing industry, and help China move forward from a manufacturer of quantity to one of quality; should promote the integration of science and education, reshape the orientation of talent training in vocational colleges, and improve the transformation and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, and should, in the practice of Chinese-style modernization, especially in the construction of a manufacturing power, condense vocational education cases, sum up vocational education experience, tell the story of China’s vocational education, and fully demonstrate the “Chinese practice” of modern vocational education serving the all-round development of people and industrial economic development.

Well-known experts such as Huang Wei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ma Jun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, etc., and representatives of national artisans and craftsmen such as Liu Xiangbin and Jiang Tao sent messages to the forum, and expressed their views on how to give effect to the integration of science and education, how to strengthen higher vocational education, and other related themes.

In the discussion session, the guests had in-depth discussions on the two topics: “integration of industry and education” and “integration of science and education”.

The Consensus of 100-Person Forum was released at the forum

The forum also released the Consensus of 100-Person Forum on Modern Vocational Education Practice in China. The consensus points out that high-quality vocational education, as an important part of high-quality education, is an education that serves national strategy, regional economic and social development and all-round development of people, and also an education that cultivates top innovative talents, engineering talents, technical talents, digital craftsmen and other talents for modernization construction. It is also an education that is needed by the country, recognized by the society, expected by parents and chosen by students. The consensus also points out that we should make up for weaknesses in knowledge-based education and improve the quality and image of vocational education; and give full play to the influence of the 100-Person Forum to attract elites from all walks of life such as science and technology, economy, industry and education to deeply participate in vocational education. Vocational colleges should take on the responsibility of transforming scientific and technological achievements and explore a new mechanism for integrating science and education; and should deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and make China’s vocational education a beautiful landscape in world education.
