Recently, the “Ship Navigation Safety Management Technology” segment of 2023 National Vocational College Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group) was held recently at Tianjin Maritime College, the first time in the history of the National Vocational College Skills Competition to set a ship navigation safety management technology segment. A total of 104 students from 26 colleges and universities across the country competed in the three-day sessions to enhance their learning and skills. After fierce competition, the students majoring in port and shipping management from our university won the third prize.
The competition highlighted the participants’ comprehensive vocational skills, teamwork ability and maritime professionalism. They were required to complete in three modules, i.e. cargo stowing, navigation route design, and navigation safety management, designed to assess their professional knowledge and skills in respect of cargo transportation, route design, positioning and navigation, ship maneuvering, ship watchkeeping, maritime communication, ship emergency response, etc.
