On April 7-9, the Art Skills (Vocal Music Performance) Segment of 2022-2023 Guangdong Vocational College Students Professional Skills Competition (Higher Vocational Group), sponsored by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, was held successfully. Mo Zhiting and Li Jinluo, students majoring in music performance (2022), instructed by the teachers Liu Yiqun, Lai Tianshu and QieYi from the School of Education, won the first and second prize respectively.

This segment had a total of 49 contestants from 39 higher vocational colleges, and through the artistic literacy test, prescribed song singing, new score solfeggio and self-selected song singing, comprehensively examined and displayed the contestants’ vocal performance skills, artistic expression and comprehensive quality. The students Mo Zhiting and Li Jinluo sang the prescribed songs “My Deep Love for You” and “On the Songhua River”; Chinese art songs “How Can I Love You” and “A Song of Two Places”, Puccini’s opera aria “Walking Down the Street” and Mozart’s opera aria “Don Juan”. After the vocal music, solfeggio ear training, instruction of the art teachers, and pre-match observation by the school leaders and teachers, the vocal music skills, stage performance and comprehensive quality of the two students Mo Zhiting and Li Jinluo were significantly improved.
