The meeting honored the outstanding collectives and individuals who emerged during the 2023-2024 academic year and hosted a retirement ceremony for retiring teachers. School leaders, members of the Party Committee, and teacher representatives attended the meeting, with over 200 staff members from various departments attending in person, while all faculty and staff tuned in to watch the live broadcast. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission.

Oath Ceremony for New Faculty Members

Following the national anthem, the event began with a solemn oath ceremony for new faculty members. On this special day, representatives of the newly recruited teachers stood before the bright national flag and made a solemn pledge. The young teachers, full of energy and determination, expressed their commitment to remain true to their original aspirations and embrace their mission with unwavering dedication.

After the ceremony, the conference recognized the outstanding collectives and individuals of the 2023-2024 academic year. Vice President Zhang Zuotai read the "Notice on Commending Outstanding Collectives and Individuals for the 2023-2024 Academic Year". School leaders presented awards to winners, including the school's advanced collectives, outstanding educators, top ten class advisors, top ten young teachers, top ten researchers, student work figures of the year, and exemplary teachers. After the awards ceremony, school leaders also presented honorary certificates to 10 educators who have been teaching for 30 years and those who were retiring. Student representatives expressed their sincere gratitude and holiday wishes to the teachers with flowers.

Following the awards, five teacher representatives—Wang Hongying from the School of Undergraduate Education, Jiang Jingyan from the School of Innovation and Design, Gong Tao from the Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Research Institute, Zhou Xiaohong from the School of Artificial Intelligence, and Zhang Yizhe from the Vocational Education College—gave speeches. They shared their experiences of working on the frontlines of teaching, practicing the integration of industry and education, and caring for student growth. They also expressed their reflections on students, their professions, and the meaning of education. Their speeches vividly demonstrated their dedication and passion for education, embodying the spirit of educators in the new era.

In his concluding remarks, Xu Jianling, Deputy Party Secretary and President of SZPU, extended festive greetings and deep respect to all teachers working diligently across teaching, research, administration, and service, as well as to retired faculty members who have contributed to the university's development. He warmly welcomed the new teachers and congratulated the collectives and individuals who were recognized for their outstanding achievements. Reflecting on the past year, Xu emphasized that the university has made remarkable progress, with its first undergraduate admissions in 2023 being a resounding success and continued breakthroughs in 2024. This demonstrates society's recognition of SZPU’s educational capabilities, which is a result of the collective efforts and dedication of the entire faculty and staff. Xu highlighted the university's vocational undergraduate program development, aimed at becoming a gathering place for master craftspeople and experts. He outlined key initiatives, including strengthening teacher ethics, intensifying talent recruitment, building a teacher growth pipeline, improving training quality, and enhancing the development of the Teacher Development Center, all to cultivate a high-quality faculty team that excels in both political integrity and educational expertise.

Looking to the future, Xu put forward four new and higher requirements for the teaching staff: strengthening ideals and beliefs, fostering a deep sense of patriotism, upholding high standards of teacher ethics, enhancing educational capabilities, and promoting teamwork for mutual growth. He emphasized that the university is steadily moving toward the ambitious goal of becoming a world-class vocational university with Chinese characteristics. He encouraged all faculty and staff to work together with passion, energy, and a strong sense of professional idealism to unite and build the collective dream of advancing education. With practical actions and outstanding achievements, SZPU will make significant contributions to the grand blueprint for building a strong education nation.
