On June 2-6, the 2023 Summer Camp for Outstanding College Students of University of Science and Technology Liaoning (USTL) was successfully held in SZPT. This event was the third summer camp held in the SZPT-USTL joint training base for graduate students, aiming to build a platform for outstanding young students to have close contact with and know more about SZPT and USTL, create opportunities for in-depth learning and exchanges, attract more excellent graduate students to study in Shenzhen, and further improve the student source and training quality.

On June 3, the opening ceremony of the summer camp was held in Tongde Building, Liuxiandong Campus of SZPT. Li Shengli, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of USTL, leaders and teachers of the Graduate School (Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee) and related schools, Xu Jianling, President of SZPT, heads of relevant departments, staff and teacher representatives attended the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Vice President Zhang Zuotai.

In his speech, Xu Jianling, on behalf of SZPT, extended a warm welcome to all the students. He introduced the basic situation of our college and the achievements of joint training work over the years, and said that SZPT hopes to provide excellent students with research and study opportunities, so that everyone they can feel the academic atmosphere of vocational colleges with applied technology research and development as the center, listen to the wonderful discussions on life and science by scientific experts, and experience the charm and power of scientific research and technological innovation. SZPT will rely on Shenzhen’s location at the forefront of reform and opening up, as well as its increasing faculty and research strength, to provide better support and guarantee for the joint training of graduate students to study and grow on campus.

Li Shengli congratulated the students who stood out from the rigorous selection, and encouraged them to lay a solid foundation and clear goals on their way of study, cultivate a scientific spirit of loving science and unremitting pursuit, and establish a scientific ideal of patriotism and dedication. He hoped that all of the students would cherish this precious opportunity to broaden their horizons, increase knowledge, encourage each other and make progress together during the short summer camp event.

The summer camp teachers and students visited BYD

This summer camp arranged a variety of activities for students. During the period, the Graduate Office of SZPT organized the first academic salon and invited 12 outstanding representatives of graduate students under the joint training program to make academic sharing. Various schools and research institutes arranged 20 high-level academic reports and conducted teacher-student discussions. A series of academic exchanges made students fully appreciate the charm of scientific research and stimulated the spark of innovation. The camp students visited the relevant research institutes, laboratories and libraries. The two sides (research institutes) jointly carried out the assessment of camp students, laying a solid foundation for the future joint training work.

In addition, the summer camp also arranged field survey activities, e.g. visiting BYD, Tencent, DOBOT and other high-tech leading enterprises, visiting the “Rising Tide of the Pearl River - Guangdong 40^th Anniversary of Reform and Opening Up Exhibition”, Lianhuashan Park, Qianhai International Conference Center and other education bases. The camp students said that during the activities, they fully felt the strong school-running strength and strong academic atmosphere of Shenzhen Vocational College, they became fully aware of the strong school-running strength and academic atmosphere of SZPT,understood the current situation, frontier and development trend of disciplines, enjoyed the innovation culture of Shenzhen high-tech enterprises, and felt the unique charm of Shenzhen, a city at the forefront of reform and opening up.

At the closing ceremony, Li Jiguang, Director of Graduate Work Department of USTL, made a summary of the summer camp. He fully affirmed the outstanding performance of the students in the summer camp, and expressed his expectations and blessings for the camp students. Finally, the leaders issued certificates of honor to the excellent camp students, which brought the summer camp event to a successful end.
