On November 1, SZPT was invited to attend the “Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Employment Conference of Technical Universities in Egypt”, and signed a cooperation agreement withNew Cairo University of Technology. Guests included Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt; Mohamed Salah Din, Minister of Military Production in Egypt; Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry; Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Hisham Deeb, President ofNew Cairo University of Technology, etc. SZPT President Xu Jianling and Vice President Li Yue attended the meeting online on behalf of the college.

Liao Liqiang expressed congratulations on the cooperation between the two sides. He stated that Egypt is the first African and Arab country to establish diplomatic ties with the People’s Republic of China, and the traditional friendship between the two countries has grown ever stronger. In recent years, under the strategic guidance and planning of the leaders of the two countries, China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative and Egypt’s “Vision 2030” have been more closely aligned. The political mutual trust has been strengthened and the practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. The China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership has become a model of solidarity and cooperation between China and other Arab, African and developing countries. China and Egypt continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of education, especially the vocational education, where a series of landmark cooperation projects have been carried out. Today, it is a pleasure to witness the signing of a cooperation agreement between Shenzhen Polytechnic andNew Cairo University of Technology. Hope they will further strengthen cooperation and promote the economic and social development of the two countries.

Xu Jianling, on behalf of SZPT, thanked Liao Liqiang and other Egyptian ministers for their attention and support to the cooperation between the two schools. He said that SZPT attaches great importance to the cooperation with African countries and actively promotes the cooperation and exchanges of vocational education between China and Africa. This September, with the support and guidance of the Embassy in Egypt, SZPT signed cooperation agreements with the Vocational Education Department of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in Egypt and the Luxor Provincial Council of Education to “tailor” talent training programs for local colleges and universities to provide local students with much-needed, relevant and high-quality education. The cooperation withNew Cairo University of Technology is a new chapter in SZPT’s cooperation with African colleges and universities. SZPT will maintain close communication with New Cairo University of Technology, carry out cooperation in modern communication technology and other fields, cultivate high-end talents, serve the industrial development, strive to set a model for China-Egypt vocational education cooperation and add new connotation into the friendly cooperation between China and Egypt. Later on, Xu Jianling and Hisham Deeb signed a cooperation agreement in the presence of Liao Liqiang and other leaders.

It is reported thatNew Cairo University of Technology was approved to be established in 2019, with the aim of providing educational services that conform to international standards, and cultivating technical talents with the ability of technological innovation in various fields and meeting the needs of the national labor market. Its education system consists of six segments: new energy and renewable energy technology; mechatronics technology; automatic electronic technology; information and communication technology; oil production, processing and transportation technology; and orthotic prosthesis repair technology, with focus on cultivating students’ multiple abilities and qualities such as knowledge acquisition, task planning, behavioral driving force and social competitiveness. Students who complete the “2+2” training program will receive the Egyptian National Diploma of Higher Education with a Bachelor of Technology degree.
