On January 14th and 15th, the 2023-2024 Guangdong Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition in Industrial Network Intelligent Control and Maintenance was successfully held at the Xili Lake Campus Gymnasium of Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU). Sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and organized by the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at SZPU, the competition saw participation from 65 teams, totaling 130 competitors from 45 colleges across the province. After intense competition, SZPU teachers Liu Jiachen and Wen Xichang, along with students Yin Weiliang and Yang Xiongzhi from the class of 2022, each won first place in the teachers' and students' competitions, respectively, securing their places in the national competition.
It is reported that the competition was divided into two categories: one for students and the other for teachers, both of which were team competitions. There were 45 student teams and 20 teacher teams competing, with each team consisting of two members, excluding team leaders and coaches. The competition comprised five main modules: industrial network design, industrial network setup and testing, virtual simulation and debugging of industrial network intelligent control systems, combined virtual and real debugging and control of industrial network intelligent control systems, and intelligent operation and maintenance of maintenance systems. It focused on assessing the contestants' comprehensive skills in industrial network design, simulation, setup, debugging, control, and operation and maintenance, as well as their abilities in equipment installation, electrical connections, programming, and troubleshooting. Additionally, the competition evaluated contestants' professional qualities, including team collaboration, quality control awareness, engineering thinking, and craftsmanship spirit.
With a significant number of participating colleges, a high demand for competition equipment and venues, and the challenges of a tight schedule and demanding tasks, SZPU committed its full efforts to the preparation of the competition, ensuring that all tasks proceeded in an orderly fashion. The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at SZPU taken this competition as an opportunity to foster learning and teaching through competition, deepen the integration of industry and education, and enhance the quality of talent cultivation further.
