On August 29 - September 1, the hackathon, a cross-border immersive boot camp hosted by Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore, ended smoothly.After selection, a total of 20 students from our college participated in the event, in addition to 92 students from Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and other countries and regions.

Participating students learned about and experienced Singapore’s startup ecosystem through remote virtual trips, engaged in multiple forms of cultural interactions, and completed a four-day hackathon challenge. The hackathon challenge encouraged participants to work as a team to find solutions to four topics within a short period of time, including “population aging”, “environment and waste pollution”, “community building and housing” and “transportation”, design new business concepts, and complete the process from idea to startup prototype, where SZPT students actively participated and raised voices, gaining high praises from the instructors of various colleges and universities. Through group discussions, students learned and applied a variety of entrepreneurial skills, such as problem identification, ideation, prototyping, etc., developed entrepreneurial ideas with a global perspective, improved communication skills, and expanded their thinking for study in the future.

A total of eight creative projects were generated during the four-day event, wherein the “Automatic Mask Recycling Machine” project submitted by the SZPT team, under the guidance of the instructor, and through many discussions, modifications, polishing and practice, achieved excellent results and won the “Sustainability Award” by virtue of its unique content presentation and entrepreneurial mindset. Participating in this event shows the spirit of active thinking and innovation of our students, improves their international communication skills and further broadens their international vision.
