On June 18, the “Guangdong 2022 Colleges Aesthetic Education Work Conference & Exchanges of Excellent Cases in Aesthetic Education” organized by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and the Sun Yat-sen University was held in Sun Yat-sen University. Zhu Kongjun, Party Secretary of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Qiu Kenan, Second-Level Inspector of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Gao Song, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences & President of Sun Yat-sen University, Yu Minbin, Deputy Party Secretary of Sun Yat-sen University and other relevant leaders attended the meeting. Domestic experts and scholars in the field of aesthetic education, representatives of colleges and universities in Guangdong Province with excellent cases in aesthetic education, and more than 300 educators in aesthetic education from nearly 140 colleges and universities in Guangdong Province gathered together to discuss the aesthetic education in Guangdong Province.
At the meeting, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province announced the selection results of excellent cases in aesthetic education of colleges and universities in the province, and 2 aesthetic education cases of SZPT were successfully selected. The aesthetic education case “Cultivating the Soul of Higher Vocational Students with Elegant Kunqu Art – Introduction to SZPT’s Aesthetic Education Case “Elegant Kunqu Art Entering Campus” submitted by An Peizhi, Associate Professor from the School of Education, won the first prize of excellent cases in aesthetic education of colleges and universities in Guangdong Province. The aesthetic education case “Original Intention of Aesthetic Education in the Context of Industry, Learning, Research and Application – Taking the School of Art and Design of Shenzhen Polytechnic as an Example” submitted by the team of Ma Kexin, Lv Xiaomeng, Zhou Junkai and Wen Wanhuafrom the School of Art and Design won the second prize of excellent cases in aesthetic education of colleges and universities in Guangdong Province, fully demonstrating SZPT’s achievements in aesthetic education.

The two award-winning aesthetic education cases are the two business cards that reflect the characteristics of aesthetic education at SZPT, and also the new harvest of SZPT’s aesthetic education immersion program in the field of aesthetic education reform. “Elegant Kunqu Art Entering Campus” is an elegant culture and aesthetic education activity jointly launched by the School of Education and the Shenzhen Heya Kunqu Association. Relying on the Shenzhen Heya Kunqu Association, we have extensively carried out a series of aesthetic education activities of elegant art entering campus, and actively explored the inheritance of excellent traditional Chinese culture and art and the construction of aesthetic education courses in colleges and universities; relying on the “Kunqu Art Appreciation” optional course, Paiqu at Traditional Chinese Studies Museum, Kunqu Collection Activity and Elegant Kunqu Art Lecture as four starting points, we have carried out a series of activities of elegant traditional culture entering campus, and explored the three-dimensional teaching mode of “learning”, “singing” and “doing”, trying to find a new way of aesthetic education reform in higher vocational colleges from various aspects, and Kunqu Collection has become a cultural brand of the Traditional Chinese Studies Museum at SZPT. In April 2020, An Peizhi was interviewed by the “Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture (Kunqu) Inheritance Base under the Ministry of Education” of Peking University. The interview article was featured as “Kunqu in the Epidemic Period (22)” on Peking University’s WeChat public account “Kunqu Base”. Meanwhile, Shenzhen Commercial Daily, Hong Kong Commercial Daily, Suzhou Daily, Daily Sunshine, China Kunqu Forum and other media and their WeChat public accounts also reported SZPT’s elegant Kunqu art promotion and aesthetic education activities, which generated a good response in the industry.
Some students from the courses “College Opera Appreciation” and “Kunqu Art Appreciation” participated in the Paiqu activity organized by Shenzhen Heya Kunqu Association in theTraditional Chinese Studies Museum.
The Ma Kexin team from the School of Art and Design focuses on aesthetic education in the context of “Industry, Learning, Research and Application”, and is committed to radiating the beauty of design, art and occupation to a broader social scope through “Industry, Learning, Research and Application”. The team, with the purpose of “original intention of aesthetic education”, explores a new way of aesthetic education construction in colleges and universities from four aspects: public exhibition, practical teaching, cultural inheritance and featured industry. They actively explore the path and implementation mode of aesthetic education in colleges and universities to serve the society, and commit to the linkage of four parties, i.e. “government, university, industry and enterprise”, so as to make the banner of “aesthetic education” get more heights, and extend the influence of aesthetic education to industries, sectors and enterprises. A series of aesthetic education explorations have been carried out based on industry, learning, research and application. Through diverse aesthetic education activities that radiate across major groups, make a substantial exploration to achieve a high level of aesthetic education in colleges and universities. Through the “activated” exploration of “intangible cultural heritage”, realize the spread of “beauty”. Strive to explore a new mode and direction for the integration of industry and teaching in higher vocational education, use design to integrate the concept of aesthetic education into the development of local industry, and through the guidance of “aesthetic education”, college-city cooperation, and industry, learning, research and application, enrich the connotation of “original intention of aesthetic education” with industrial development, and strive to elevate the value of aesthetic education to a new height. The team has cooperated with Shenzhen Post to plan the stamp exhibition “Original Intention of Aesthetic Education -- One Hundred Years of Party History in Stamps”, initiated the practice “Rural Party Construction Aesthetics” in Xiuwu, Henan Province, and transformed the old red site of Dadong Village into a museum, realizing the integration of local resources and design aesthetics.

Aesthetic education is an important part of the Party’s educational policy. Aesthetic education, moral education, intellectual education, physical education and labor education complement and promote each other, which is a major way to cultivate talents in the new era. In recent years, SZPT fully implements the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions about aesthetic education work, taking moral education as the foundation, led by socialist core values, in order to improve the students’ aesthetic and humanistic literacy, carry forward the spirit of the Chinese aesthetic education, and incorporate aesthetic education into the whole process of talent training at SZPT. To improve the leadership of aesthetic education, SZPT has set up a “Leading Group of Aesthetic Education” with the Party Secretary and President of SZPT as the leader, and the Deputy Party Secretary as the executive deputy leader, issued the Shenzhen Polytechnic’s Implementation Plan for Aesthetic Education in the New Era (SZPT [2022] No. 55), and established an Art Quality Education Center attached to the School of Vocational and Technical Education to coordinate and guide the aesthetic education work of the whole college, focusing on the aesthetic education curriculum construction, aesthetic education teaching reform and aesthetic education practice activities to promote the high-quality and innovative development of aesthetic education. The college actively carries out aesthetic education for all students, encourages and supports teaching units to integrate aesthetic education into professional education, and combined with the features of majors and disciplines, constructs the aesthetic education quality project for each school, gradually forming a first-class aesthetic education brand with the characteristics of SZPT.
