Students from School of Economics Won Good Results in the Provincial Fintech Application Skills Competition

On May 14, 2022, the Fintech Application Skills Competition of the 2021-2022 Professional Skills Competition of Vocational College Students in Guangdong Province sponsored by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province was held online. More than 300 students of 73 teams from 41 higher vocational colleges participated in the competition. Led by four teachers Fang Haowen, Wang Qi, Wu Songbin and Li Changsheng from the School of Economics, students Chen Yanchun, Chen Qiongchun, Luo Sizhu and Zhang Yongfen from 2020 Finance won the first prize in the competition; Qi Qi and Wu Chengyun from 2019 Finance and Xu Qiongxin and Chen Yating from 2020 Finance won the second prize in the competition!

The “Fintech Application Skills” Competition is held against the backdrop of the fintech sector, based on the job content design for such core posts as product design, security design, market operation & maintenance and application operation in enterprises of financial service, Internet finance, blockchain finance, and fintech related blockchain engineering, information technology, software engineering, Internet information service, database technology, IT technical consulting, etc., applicable to majors of economics, business and trade in higher vocational colleges, such as financial management, financial engineering, Internet finance, rural finance, international finance, investment and wealth management, insurance, securities and futures, computer information management, information security and management, accounting, and financial management. The competition contents include three modules: “professional quality”, “innovative finance”, and “blockchain finance”.

Before the competition, the instructors provided training for all the contestants and mobilized them to make active preparations. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 in Shenzhen, the students persisted in the training and carried forward the spirit of helping each other. Through the arduous pre-competition training, they mastered the vocational skills related to fintech. The School of Economics participating in the Fintech Application Skills Competition reflected the educational philosophy of promoting teaching and learning through competition.
