The Provincial Conference on Vocational Education was held at the Department of Education of Guangdong Province

On the morning of September 21, the ProvincialConference onVocational Education was held at the Department of Education of Guangdong Province. The conference deeply studied the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the work of vocational education, implemented the spirit of the National Conference on Vocational Education, and made plans for the current and future work of vocational education in Guangdong Province. Sun Yao, Party Member & Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, attended the conference and addressed by video. Chen Jianwen, Member of the Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee & Head of the Department of Publicity of Guangdong Province, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Wang Xi, Member of the Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee & Vice Governor of Guangdong Province presided over the conference.

The conference stressed that it is important to strengthen moral education with equal attention as skills training, and firmly grasp the fundamental task of developing vocational education with Chinese characteristics; to emphasize the integration of industry and education, and the cooperation between schools and enterprises, and promote the establishment of a diversified, integrated and open pattern of vocational education; to give priority to deepening reform and innovation-driven development, and constantly strengthen the internal driving force and sustained vitality of vocational education development; to focus on improving quality, empowering and developing services, and strive to build a system for training high-level technical talents; and to draw on each other’s strengths, develop distinctive features, and form a coordinated development layout that matches the pattern of regional development. In the meantime, it is important to ensure that vocational colleges reach the standards for running a school, and to deepen the reform of the modern vocational education system.

The conference was held in the form of video. All members of the leading group for education work of the Provincial Party Committee, relevant members of committees and departments of the Provincial Party Committee, relevant persons in charge of provincial organs, and representatives of relevant colleges and enterprises in Guangzhou attended the conference in the main venue. More than 1300 persons attended the conference in the branch venue, including heads of leading groups for education work of municipal Party committees above the prefectural level, leaders in charge of municipal Party committees and municipal governments, key leaders and persons in charge of education bureaus, persons in charge of relevant departments, and representatives of vocational colleges and enterprises.

Yang Xinbin delivered a speech as the only representative of vocational colleges at the conference

As the only representative of vocational colleges, Yang Xinbin, Secretary of the Party Committee at SZPT, delivered a speech titled “Strive to be a pioneer in the innovation and development of China’s vocational education”. He said that in recent years, SZPT has been actively implementing the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, taking it as its duty to be a pioneer in the innovation and development of vocational education, making reform with keen determination and taking faster steps in action, giving a fruitful answer to vocational education in Shenzhen. First, serve the overall arrangement of the Party and the State, and become a model of “educating people for the Party and training talents for the State”; second, serve students to grow into talents, and act as a practitioner of “skills make a wonderful life”; third, serve the transformation of high-end industries, and support “made in China, created in China”; fourth, serve the reform and innovation of vocational education, and play a leading role in “digital transformation”. Next, SZPT will deeply study the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on vocational education, earnestly implement the instructions of Secretary Li Xi and Governor Wang Weizhong and the spirit of the conference, build a “SZPT model” for high-quality development of vocational education, give a satisfactory answer to the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Government and the people of Guangdong Province, and drive Guangdong’s vocational education to write more “stories of springtime”!
