On May 27-30, the final of the 13^th“Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurship Competition of Guangdong College Students, co-sponsored by the Guangdong Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province,Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology and the Guangdong Students’ Federation, was successfully held in the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies both online and offline. Shenzhen Polytechnic (“SZPT”) had a total of 11 works that entered the final, the number of which ranked 6^thamong all colleges in the province, and received the “Winner’s Cup” by winning 5 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals after fierce competition of undergraduate and higher vocational colleges. According to the statistics of published results, SZPT had the largest number of gold medals among higher vocational colleges, ranked 4^thamong all colleges in the province, showing that its innovation and entrepreneurship work remains at the forefront of colleges in the province.

It is particularly worth mentioning that for the first time, this “Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurship Competition launches a track for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students and a track for international students. SZPT won 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal on the track for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students, and 1 gold medal on the track for international students; wherein, Lu Zhong, an international student from 2019 Network Class 4 of School of Electronic and Communication Engineering, affected by the COVID-19, finished the defense at home in Tajikistan and finally won the gold medal, which fully demonstrated SZPT’s international education level and quality, marking a new stage in the training of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students and international students.

SZPT leaders attached great importance

Yang Xinbin, Party Secretary of SZPT, and Xu Jianling, President of SZPT, attached great importance to the “Challenge Cup”, and stressed on many occasions, such as teachers’ conference, middle cadres’ meeting, Party secretary and president afternoon tea, that students should be encouraged to actively participate in the “Challenge Cup” and other contests, forge ahead in the new era, and overcome challenges toward the future. In April this year, under the care and support of SZPT leaders, the college revised theRules for the Implementation of the Administrative Measures for the Vocational Skills Competition of Studentsby officially including the “Challenge Cup” National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition into the college’s national class I competitions, which greatly stimulated and encouraged the enthusiasm of students to participate in the innovation and entrepreneurship activities.

All departments formed a synergy

In order to prepare well for this “Challenge Cup”, SZPT Youth League Committee made a systematic plan from last November and actively mobilized all students to participate in the competition. Through the selection, 15 projects were recommended to participate in the “Challenge Cup” provincial competition, among which, 11 projects finally entered the final round after the online review. During the period, SZPT Youth League Committee was dedicated to the preparation service by actively establishing an innovative preparation mechanism, organizing the provincial training meeting for the final competition, road show defense guidance meeting, and instructor exchange meeting, and inviting experts in related fields for several mock defense. All the secondary schools, School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Student Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Office, International Office (School of International Exchange and Cooperation), Education Technology and Information Center and other departments of the college fully cooperated with each other and gave great support and assistance for participation in the competition.

All teams prepared actively for the competition

The instructors and students of all the participating teams made great efforts for this competition, and achieved the remarkable results by trying over and over again. As students could not return to school due to the COVID-19, the instructors of each participating project, by all means, established a regular training mechanism, with online guidance and training at a fixed time. Students did not return to school until May 6 to receive health observation, and there was less than half a month for real offline guidance and simulated road show. On the day of the defense, the students were calm, clear and fluent, which won the high recognition of the defense judges and showed the high spirit and youthful demeanor of SZPT students.
