On November 1-6, ChenZhaomeng and Huang Qiujun, teachers of urban rail from the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering, won the gold medal with the first place in the railway signal equipment maintenance skills segment of the final of the 2022 BRICS Vocational Skills Competition held in Xiamen, and represented SZPT to stand on the highest podium of the competition.

Guided by the government departments of five BRICS countries, the BRICS Vocational Skills Competition optimizes the design of the competition on the basis of integrating the characteristics of vocational education and competition resources of each country, and benchmarks against the World Skills Competition to promote the training of international high-quality skilled talents in BRICS countries as a whole. After competing in various trials, a total of 40 Chinese teams and 10 Russian teams entered the final of the railway signal equipment maintenance skills segment.

This competition features new equipment, wide content, great difficulty, tight time and heavy task. To ensure that our team could achieve good results in the competition, the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering attached great importance with precise organization by allocating resources to address the issue of training equipment in a short time and setting up coaching and accompanying teams composed of teachers and students including Cui Hongwei, Hu Songhua and Li Wugang to help the participating teachers improve their skills quickly. In response to the requirements of epidemic control, the coaching team developed the training idea of practice before theory, and fully organized specific training plans in view of different characteristics during the on-campus period and the hotel quarantine period. The participating team finally won the gold medal with the highest score by virtue of their excellent comprehensive quality and superb strength.
