School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering

School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering was established in 2004. At present, it has five specialties including automobile application and maintenance technique (national model specialty, provincial model specialty and provincial construction Major of the first-class institutes), automobile marketing and service, automobile electronic technology (it is a provincial secondary brand construction specialty and has two fields including electric automobile technology and automobile electronic technology), intelligent transportation technology application (provincial secondary brand construction specialty) and operation and management of urban rail transit, six specialty fields and 1,300 full-time students. Our school has already cultivated over 4,290 full-time graduates, who are very popular among employers, maintaining an employment rate of above 96%. Since 2007, our school has successively signed agreements on joint cultivation of postgraduates with 11 domestic institutions of higher education to recruit 27 postgraduates. We have launched two national excellent courses, one provincial level excellent course and one national Education Steering Committee excellent course.

At present, our school has 66 faculty members, including 7 professors, 18 associate professors and 13 PhDs. Part of the faculty have successively won over 20 honorary titles at national, provincial and municipal level, such as The Best Adviser of National Vocational College Students Invention Innovation Award, Huang Yanpei Outstanding Teacher, Guangdong Provincial New Star in Nanyue Teaching Field, Guangdong Provincial Leading Talent, Guangdong Provincial Cultivation Objects of "Qianbaishi Project", Shenzhen Top Ten Models of Teacher's Morality, Local High-level Professionals of Shenzhen, Municipal Excellent Teacher, Municipal Excellent Class Adviser and Municipal Excellent CPC Member, etc. A majority of our full-time teachers have both high educational background and high professional certification, but also possess higher-level vocational skills. The proportion of the "dual-qualification" teachers has beyond 90%, including one teacher obtained the international accreditation certificate for Master Automobile Technician issued by ASE during further study in the USA, becoming the first one to obtain the certificate among domestic teachers in higher vocational institutes. Meanwhile the teacher has been consecutively being an instructor and expert in Automobile Technology Competition of Worldskills Competition for 3 sessions (since the 42nd session). Our school boasts not only its in-house strong teaching staff but also 149 part-time teachers outside school from front line of industry and enterprise who have rich practice experience.

Established in 1996, the training base of our school - automobile and transportation technology center covers an area of 3,300 square meters and has equipments with a total value of RMB 62,230,000. With various research platforms at provincial, municipal and school level such as "new energy automobile and energy saving and emission reduction engineering development center of colleges in Guangdong province", "Shenzhen professional identification and training platform for new energy automobile technology", "Shenzhen key lab of automobile exhaust emission test and control", "Shenzhen public technology service platform for test and qualification of automobile electronic products", "automobile exhaust emission and electric automobile technology research center of SHENZHEN POLYTECHNIC", etc., our school devotes itself to research in energy saving and new energy automobile power system, electronic technology of automobile safety, test of automobile electronic products and test of automobile exhaust emission and providing teachers and students favorable conditions to conduct entrepreneurship, innovation and creation. Our school has set up 98 affiliated practice bases outside school and 128 designated practice enterprises in Shenzhen. China Faw -Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. and our school cooperate to develop the institute-enterprise cooperation project of "Audi Vocational School". Shenzhen Metro Group, MTR (Shenzhen) and our school deeply cooperate to develop "ordered class of metro" for talent cultivation, which has become a training base of urban rail transit of Guangdong Province.

Our school has actively explored the application-oriented model of higher vocational education and research and attached importance to industry-academy-research cooperation, scientific research application and development and achievement transformation. In recent five years, our school undertook 131 various research projects, including two national wide fund projects, 10 provincial and ministry level projects, 30 municipal projects and 59 transverse research projects, and available expenditure is over 16,000,000; our school also initiated a project to construct 4 key research platforms above municipal level, and the expenditure of platform construction is more than RMB 20,000,000. In addition, our school obtained the licensing of 120 national patents. Our faculty expand their scientific researches beyond the ivory tower, actively engaging in decision making procedures of the government and serving local economic and social development. Meanwhile, our school has become a key training base for technical service talents in the fields of automobile and transportation in the Pearl River Delta thanks to its in-house advantageous resources, delivering trainings to more than 1,000 students a year by its teacher training, vocational training, vocational skill appraisal and vocational qualification appraisal.

1. Major of automobile application and maintenance technique

[Cultivation target] To cultivate the compound, innovative, high-quality and high-skilled talents who are qualified for all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and art, possess favorable comprehensive quality, acquire the knowledge of modern automobile technology and theory, automobile maintenance, repair, diagnosis and test, have the abilities of automobile maintenance and repair, failure diagnosis, performance test, etc. and adapt to the post demand of automobile application technique management and maintenance.

[Main courses] Basic theory of automobile electronic control, automobile engine maintenance, automobile electrical system maintenance, automobile chassis system maintenance, automobile comprehensive failure diagnosis, automobile new energy technology and in-vehicle network system technology, etc.

[Employment orientation]

Employment target: automobile sales enterprises and enterprises related to after-sale services including maintenance and test; automobile manufacturers and so on.

Target specialities: technical service department; technical training department; automobile insurance and claim settlement department; accident survey department; vehicle management and deployment department.

Proposed job scope: to be engaged in technique and management such as vehicle test, diagnosis, maintenance and business acceptance, etc.; to be engaged in vehicle management and deployment in enterprises and public institutions of transportation; to be engaged in vehicle identification, appraisal and claim settlement in intermediary organizations of automobile; to work in automobile manufacturers and automobile test stations in relevant industry.

2. Major of New energy vehicle technology

[Cultivation target] To cultivate the high-quality and innovative talents with ideological and political firmness, morality and technology, comprehensive development, having a certain level of science and culture, good professional ethics and craftsmanship spirit, mastering the basic theoretical knowledge and main skills of the new energy vehicle specialty, and being able to be engaged in the assembly,test and quality inspection of the new energy vehicle for the new energy vehicle production enterprises, and new energy vehicle key parts performance test, and technology research and development for key parts production enterprises.

[Main courses] Basics of New energy vehicle software technology, new energy vehicle principle and structure, basics of new energy vehicle electronic control, power battery management and maintenance technology, drive motor and control technology, new energy vehicle intelligent network technology, new energy vehicle charging facility operation and maintenance, new energy vehicle comprehensive performance testing technology.

[Employment orientation]

Employment target: To be engaged in the assembly, test and quality inspection of the vehicle in the new energy vehicle enterprise, assistant for product research and development, performance test and after-sales technical service in the key parts manufacturing enterprise of the new energy vehicle, and technical work in the quality inspection department, such as electronic product inspection, performance appraisal and reliability test of the new energy vehicle.

3. Major of automobile electronic technology

[Cultivation target] To cultivate the compound, innovative, high-quality and high-skilled talents who are qualified for all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and art, possess favorable comprehensive quality, acquire professional knowledge and skills in production and test of automobile electronic products and test, diagnosis and maintenance of electric automobile, have the abilities of test and identification of automobile electronic products, supporting design and research of automobile electronic products, production management, quality management and product sales in production enterprises of automobile electronic products and test, diagnosis and maintenance of electric automobile and adapt to the demand of posts in enterprises of production and test of automobile electronic products, electric automobile production and after-sale service enterprises.

[Main courses] Principles and technology application of automobile electronic control, automobile structure, automobile electrical and supporting electronic system technology and maintenance, test and identification of automobile electronic products, automobile network and circuit analysis, in-vehicle electronic technology, application technology of electric automobile, process of automobile electronic products, driving motor and control technology, power battery management and maintenance technology and new energy automobile technology, etc.

4. Major of intelligent transportation technology application

[Cultivation target] To cultivate the compound, innovative, high-quality and high-skilled talents who are qualified for all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and art, possess favorable comprehensive quality, acquire policies and regulations in intelligent transportation field, information management and basic knowledge of project construction, are familiar with intelligent transportation planning and mapping, have the abilities of design and making , quality test, system installation and debugging, equipment operation and maintenance and project management of intelligent transportation products, adapt to the demand of posts in enterprises and public institutions of intelligent transportation and expand career development in the fields of urban rail transportation control, automobile marketing and after-sale service.

[Main courses] Electrotechnical and electronic technology, computer application, transportation engineering technology, transportation geographical information system, information information collection and processing, basic theory of electronic control of transportation, installation and maintenance of transportation monitoring system, vehicle navigation and monitoring and dispatching, transportation CAD engineering mapping, traffic signal timing, transportation control simulation and transportation engineering project management.

5. Major of operation and management of urban rail transit

[Cultivation target] To cultivate the compound, innovative, high-quality and high-skilled talents who are qualified for all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and art, possess favorable comprehensive quality, acquire requisite professional knowledge and skills of operation and management of urban rail transit, have the basic abilities of operation organization, passenger organization, station design, comprehensive control, ticketing management and service, etc., boast favorable occupational quality and occupational morality, adapt to the demand of posts of technology, management and service in the field of rail transit and expand career development in the fields of automobile and intelligent transportation.

[Main courses] Introduction to urban rail transit, automatic control of train operation, passenger organization of urban rail transit, operation organization of urban rail transit, training of professional skills (urban rail transit), pre-job training of comprehensive skills (urban rail transit), service etiquette of urban rail transit, communications & signal of urban rail transit, equipment and safety management of urban rail transit and professional English of urban rail transit.

[Employment orientation]

Employment target: metro enterprises, inter-city rail transit operation enterprises and production enterprises of technology and equipment of urban rail transit in the Pearl River Delta.

Target specialities: dispatching (control) department, ticketing center and maintenance department of metro enterprises.

Proposed job scope: to be engaged in operation dispatching, power dispatching, environmental control dispatching, signal dispatching, ticketing inspection and maintenance, data center maintenance, central monitoring, maintenance and management of automation equipment in metro enterprises and inter-city rail transit operation enterprises in the Pearl River Delta. To be engaged in metro and station management and serve as terminal attendant of the station, attendant of passenger organization and attendant of operation in the urban rail transit operation enterprises. To be engaged in development, test, management and after-sale service, etc. in the production enterprises of technology and equipment of urban rail transit.

6. Automobile and Transportation Technology Center

Automobile and Transportation Technology Center was established in September 1996. At present, the center covers an area of 3,500 square meters and has equipments with a total value of over RMB 62,000,000, 124 sets of large equipments for experiment and training and equipments of social donation with a value of RMB 3,440,000. There are 8 full-time practical training instructors who are technicians from the front line of enterprise and have certificates of senior technician.

Automobile and Transportation Technology Center mainly undertakes the practical teaching task, aiming at cultivating the automobile maintenance skill, automotive electronics test and development skill, automobile after-sale service skill, skill of maintenance of intelligent transportation equipment, skill of design and development of transportation technology and skill of maintenance of urban rail vehicle and station, etc. of the students specialized in automobile and transportation. The center owns 5 practical training rooms of automobile maintenance, automobile marketing, automobile electronics, intelligent transportation and urban rail with 20 practical training units in total, over 50 gasoline-fueled vehicles and eclectic vehicles with German brand, Japanese brand and self-owned brand, over 170 special benches for teaching and 76 special devices for diagnosis.

Automobile and Transportation Technology Center is also a base for teachers and students to conduct research, innovation and creation. It owns various research platforms at provincial, municipal and school level such as "new energy automobile and energy saving and emission reduction engineering development center of colleges in Guangdong province", "Shenzhen professional identification and training platform for new energy automobile technology", "Shenzhen key lab of automobile exhaust emission test and control", "Shenzhen public technology service platform for test and qualification of automobile electronic products", "automobile exhaust emission and electric automobile technology research center of SHENZHEN POLYTECHNIC", etc. It has developed the diagnosis device for intermittent power control failure of automobile, gas-electric hybrid light truck, hybrid automobile, electric automobile featured by four-wheel steering and driving and electric automobile driven by in-wheel motor, etc. In addition, the center does not only undertake various provincial and municipal research programs, but also undertakes the key research tasks of Shenzhen Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, including air quality monitoring during peak season of transportation and monitoring of emission characteristics of different kinds of vehicles. What's more, Automobile and Transportation Technology Center also conducts research in the fields of urban road and expressway, regards road traffic monitoring and vehicle navigation monitoring as the main directions of research and undertakes dozens of research and development programs authorized by traffic bureau and enterprises.

Over the years, Automobile and Transportation Technology Center has received the inspection of national, provincial and municipal leaders such as Wen Jiabao, Li Lanqing and Wang Rong, etc., and conducted reception for the visit and exchange of experts and leaders from many educational institutions, organizations, peer colleges, and automobile industries and enterprises all over the world including UNESCO and Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia,etc. Supported by government and all walks of life, Automobile and Transportation Technology Center has become a multi-purpose base for practical training and experiment integrating teaching, training, research and foreign service and exchange.
