The School of Communication offers the Digital Information Technology program, the Digital Publishing Program, the Packaging Design and Planning program, and the Communication and Planning program. Classic traditions meet cutting edge innovations. Our college is dedicated to giving students the knowledge and skills in publishing, packaging, printing, new media, communications, creative design, graphic making, brand planning, digital contents planning, interactive design of digital media, strategical planning, new media operating, and media management.

The School of Communication has 1292 students and 64 faculties including 4 full-time professors, 19 associate professors, 1 provincial award-winning distinguished teacher, 1 provincial leading talent in vocational education, 3 high-level professionals in Shenzhen, 1 Overseas High-Caliber Personnel Shenzhen, 3 technical experts of Guangdong, 3 national experts in the field of registered International Standardization ISO/TC130, 10 experts in the Printing of International Standardization, 3 candidates of Guangdong Province for the "thousand, hundred and ten excellent project". Among our teaching team, over 80 percent of teachers have above graduate-level degrees (9 teachers have doctoral degrees), and over 90 percent of our teachers are double qualified teachers. We have a world-leading communication and technology research center, 10 college-enterprise joint technology research centers, 10 well-equipped student workshops, and 1600 instrument units with a total value of 55 million RMB.

The School of Communication has one national modeling major, one national key major, one national collaborative innovation center, one provincial leading major, one provincial tier-2 branding major, one national excellent course, one national excellent sharing course, two courses of national excellent course library, 4 national educational elaborate courses, 3 national key courses of the national teaching bank, 5 vocational modeling teaching books, 2 provincial practice bases and 4 municipal research centers.

Our school focuses on training students' creativity and skills and our students have proudly achieved a series of medals and awards, including 2 first prizes of National Packaging Competition for 2 consecutive years, 8 first prizes of National Publishing Professional Skill Competition, 2 winners of national publishing skilled prizes, 4 second prizes of National Advertising Design Competition, 1 golden prize of National College Students' Creativity Competition, and many other important awards and prizes at the national level. The teaching quality of the College of Communication has been highly recognized worldwide. Over 95 percent of students graduate with an advanced professional certificate and the employment rate of graduates is as high as 96 percent with more than 50 percent of graduates working in the field of communication and publication. Our graduates are highly welcomed by various companies and many graduates are strongly needed by the job market, as the graduate supply to the need of the job market is 1:4, according to the official report. Besides, we have a good employment and career center that 100 percent guarantees all of our graduates can fill available positions in the Shenzhen area.

The Digital Information Technology program in the College of Communication at Shenzhen Polytechnic focuses on building professional skills of students in all fields related to digital and graphic information-making with a core teaching interest in digital technology. Through a three-years learning period, students can learn how to process images with various software, master skills of digital printing technologies, gain hands-on experiences of digital information processing, and have an insightful understanding of color management and layout design. While the teaching focus is given to digital technologies in the program, especially graphics and content-making, students are also equipped with knowledge of data analysis, creative writing, network printing, and operation management. Besides, our robust curriculum and experienced teachers can also enhance students' creativity and communication skills and build them high working ethics and make them highly competitive in the job market.

Students at the digital publishing program are trained for grasping emerging opportunities brought by the new era of digital media and address the increasing needs of the job market. Although the teaching focus in the Digital Publishing program is given to web design, application of VR/AR technology, filming, design of new media and artificial intelligent production, students also need to learn creative writing skills, content-making of digital production, analysis of consumers in digital market and marketing for the digital product. Through a three-years learning period, students can independently design and develop websites, APPs, and new media products. Besides, they are supposed to be competent in making media content, analyzing the market for digital products, managing digital projects, and marketing. Moreover, our robust curriculum and experienced teachers can also enhance students' creativity and communication skills and build them high working ethics and make them highly competitive in the job market.

Students at the Packaging Design and Planning program in the college of Communication are supposed to have a strong sense of cooperation, creativity, and expertise in packaging design. The teaching focus of this program is at training their skills in designing packages, brands, shapes, structure, and decoration of various products. Through our robust curriculum and experienced teachers, students can learn how to detect and check the packing materials and how to sell their packing products. In addition to building their designing and packaging skills, film-making and visual effects of projects are also an important element in teaching curricula, so students are able to have an integrated understanding and hands-on experiences to packing design. Besides, courses and workshops can also enhance students' creativity and communication skills and build them high working ethics and make them highly competitive in the job market.

The goal of the Communication and Planning program at the College of Communication is to cultivate students' creativity, strategical planning, and design in communication and its related fields. This program helps students familiarize themselves with characters and the nature of Digital Media. Through systematical training, students are able to master the means and skills of online media to process information in mass communication. Students are able to learn the latest digital editing, programming, and content-production making. Through a series of training, teaching, and course-taking, graduates are expected to be specialists in planning, designing, content-producing, and communications with strong creativity. Although the teaching focus of this program is given to the design and graphic processing, students are trained with writing and communication skills by experienced teachers.
