Introduction to the School of Management

The School of Management is committed to training high-quality and high-skilled compound talents who meet the requirements of Shenzhen's economic and social development, have strong innovation and entrepreneurship spirit and modern service consciousness, and are competent for production and service front-line management positions. The School now has 2,453 full-time students who are studying in three specialty groups of Port & Shipping Logistics, Business Administration and Hotel Tourism, covering 7 specialties such as the Port and Shipping Management (national model specialty), Logistics Management (provincial model specialty, provincial second-class brand specialty), Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Marketing (provincial model specialty, provincial second-class brand specialty), Hotel Management (provincial model specialty, provincial key specialty in first-class colleges and universities) and Tourism Management (national demonstration site of tourism specialties in vocational colleges, provincial key specialty).

The School now has 102 faculty members. Among them, 19 are professors, 36 are associate professors and 42 teachers have doctoral degrees. There are also 1 "Outstanding Teacher" of Guangdong Special Support Program for High-level Talents, 1 leading talent of provincial higher vocational education, 4 leading talents or high-level professionals of Shenzhen, 1 young scholar of Pearl River Program and 2 provincial teaching teams. The School has a provincial decision-making consulting research base and the "Research Center for Innovation and Development of Modern Industries and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises”. In the past five years, the School has completed three national quality courses and two national quality resource sharing courses, and the teachers in the School have published 21 books, more than 50 textbooks and over 400 academic papers. The School has also undertaken more than 80 vertical scientific research projects or teaching research projects (including 3 national social science fund projects and more than 30 provincial and ministerial level projects) and completed 146 horizontal cooperation and social service projects with a total amount of more than 24.59 million yuan.

In the campus, there are a number of training rooms for logistics simulation, marketing presentation, enterprise simulation, experiential teaching, simulated tour guide, hotel catering, etc. There is also an i-Lab comprehensive training room based on the innovation, entrepreneurship and maker platform; the total area of these training rooms reaches 4,182 square meters, with 8.7734-million-yuan worth software and hardware equipment in them. The School has signed strategic cooperation agreements with China Merchants Port, InterContinental Hotel Group, SF Express, Rainbow, Starbucks, Maersk, Shenzhen Airlines and other well-known enterprises. The school-enterprise cooperation with unique characteristics has gradually spawned the brands such as "Belle Store Manager" class and "InterContinental Elite" class. The "Dapeng New District Community Tourism College" successfully created the first off-campus expansion project, and the "ZHY E-commerce" class explored a unique way to start e-commerce business.

The School vigorously develops international exchanges and cooperation. In 2019, it launched a talent exchange and training program with Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. In 2011, it cooperated with City University of Seattle in the international logistics "3 + 0" project. Among the graduates, 60 successfully went to City University of Seattle for further study, 10 successfully applied for the master's degree from the University and 1 successfully applied for the master's degree from City University of Macau. In 2014, the School reached a preliminary cooperation intention with Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. In 2015, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Universite Du Vin. In 2019, the School reached a cooperation intention with Plymouth University, UK.
