Students of School of Media and Communication Win 1st Prize in National Packaging Design Vocational Skills Competition

       The three-day 2016 National Packaging Design Vocational Skills Competition was rounded off in Zhongshan Torch Polytechnic. Ye Wendan, Li Jiawen and Lin Shuxian, sophomores of packaging planning and design major of School of Media and Communication won the first prize, proving the strength of Shenzhen Polytechnic among higher vocational colleges nationwide again. 24 teams from 24 higher vocational colleges like Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication,Tianjin Vocational Institute, Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences, Guangdong Industry Polytechnic and Shanghai Publishing and Printing College contended for the first, second and third prizes. There were 2 first prizes, which were won by Shenzhen Polytechnic and Zhongshan Torch Polytechnic.

The competition was guided by China Packaging Federation and organized by National Packaging Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee as a warm-up match for 2017 National Packaging Design Vocational Skills Competition. It highlighted combination of teaching with enterprise production and market, emphasized the manual dexterity and creativity of students, and got rid of dependence upon network and information with high requirementsfor timeliness of the work.

A group of 3 members collaboratively finished packaging design in the whole competition in a completely closed state without network, dataand reference. The competition was divided into two stages with atopic assigned to the design. The contestants finished packaging structure and decoration design of packaging design within 5h on thefirst day, and appearance molding and display design within 2.5h onthe second day. Judges were professors of colleges and universitiesnationwide that did not participate in grading. Expert grading groupwas composed of bosses of packaging and design companies acrossChina.

Leadersof School of Media and Communication attached great importance after receiving notice of the competition, organized a steering group composed of Yan Yao, Liu Xisheng, Liu Yingping and Luo Chen, teachers of packaging planning and design major, made use of spare time and weekends to coach the 3 students and finally achieved excellent results.
