Shenzhen Polytechnic Library (SPL) has 40317 square meters of floor space. SPL consists of four branch libraries, in separate locations in East Campus, West Campus, North Campus and OCT Campus. SPL has 1.64 million copies of printed books, 1.04 million set of electronic books and documentations, 360 multimedia computers, 40 retrieval computers. Its 4000 reading seats provides comprehensive services to the teaching staff and students. Shenzhen Polytechnic Library strives to build itself a reader-centered modern library through the construction of the electronic resources, while in the meantime enhance the services in the traditional way. In recent years the library has greatly strengthened its computer networking and electronic resources. Registered readers have access to the digital platform of the online library.
The building of traditional printed copies resources is an infrastructure construction for SPL. SPL boasts 1.64 million printed books at present, with an accumulation speed of 0.1 million books each year, i.e. 10 new books for each registered students each year. It also possesses over 2,200 kinds of newspapers and periodicals. A rich collection of digital resources features SPL. The Library possesses over 40,000 pieces of multimedia resources. The Library is equipped with Shusheng digital library, ssreader e-books, CNKI, CQVIP, EBSCO, and Springer etc.
The ultimate goal of library resources is to provide information services. In order to meet the rising demand for better information services, we engage in developing digital resources and a system of specialized librarians has been established to provide higher-level services to the readers.
