At 14:10 on June 10, a lecture on “the U.S. Occupational Ethics and Entrepreneurial Spirit” was given in the auditorium of the West Campus library by Professor Wang Zhengping, a doctoral tutor and the Director of the Interdisciplinary Research Center of Shanghai Normal University.
Starting with "the flapping flag" from 9-11 Event in the United States and Bill Gates’s huge contributions, Wang drew out his definition of ethics: a good faith, a measure of value, and a spirit of the times.
He introduced the basics of American occupational ethical values and then mentioned a famous line from Grave, an essay by Lu Xun: "Moral must be universal."
He concluded that the American occupational ethics is the core of entrepreneurship. To a society, where there are no "moral heroes" there will be no social and moral passion and vitality.
Finally, Professor Wang ended up the lecture with a famous saying from Kant, "Only two things in the world can make us deeply shocked in our innermost being: one is the overhead star - shining sky, the other the noble moral standard in mind."
All the audience benefited a lot from Professor Wang's lecture. – By Lv Yuejuan, our student correspondent
