The School of Mechanicaland Electrical Engineering (hereafter referred to as SMEE), with 2584 full-time students at present, was founded in July 2004, and so far have cultivated 4623 graduates.

To meet the needs of Shenzhen’s economic development and to train innovative and practical talents, SMEE has established 7 specialties, namely, Computer Aided Design & Computer Aided Manufacturing, Building Intelligence Engineering Technology, Electric Automation Technology, Numerical Control Technology, HVAC Engineering Technology, Inspection & Testing Technology, and Mechotronics Technology. Among them, Computer Aided Design & Computer Aided Manufacturing and Building Intelligence Engineering Technology are granted as key national model specialties for higher vocational and technical education, and Electric Automation Technology is granted as key provincial model specialty for higher vocational and technical education. SMEE has also set up automation technology research institute, engineering drawing teaching and researching office, and English teaching and researching office. With the investment of 62.4 million RMB, SMEE has built 8 on-campus practice training centers covering an total area of about5240 m2and are proved to be fully functional with 3963 sets of facilities and dozens of software for engineering applications.

Target

SMEE aims to cultivate advanced technical application talents who has specialty knowledge and synthetical skills and can work on front line directly about product manufacturing, management construction and service sector. The school designs its courses to contain a high level of practical technical knowledge and maintains close links with industries.

SMEE focuses on the cultivation of innovative and practical skills for our students. Each specialty has a professional management committee, whose members are mainly the technicians from corresponding enterprises and they will assist the specialty to stipulate teaching programs and to make arrangement for students’ practice in the enterprises as well. 50% of our courses are set up for students to practice their vocational skills and most of them are choices for the cultivation of innovative skills. 95% of our graduates have acquired at least one intermediate qualification certificate for their occupations, which ensures our graduates’ employment rate over 95%. Moreover, with the acquired innovative and practical skills, quite some students won top prizes in the vocational skills competitions both at home and abroad.
