The School of Economics
The School of Economics, with over 2200 current students, is one of the biggest School in Shenzhen Polytechnic. Programs offered include Accounting (a provincial-level key program and top-notch program), Financial Management (a provincial-level key program), Financial Management Sino-Australian Joint Program, Legal Affairs, and Community Management and Service (First-Class Demonstrative Key Program), constituting two distinctive and appropriately distributed majors clusters—the financial major cluster and the legal-social major cluster, which closely meet the employment demand. The Financial Management Sino-Australian Joint Program cooperating with Federation University，Australia has over 200 students. Over 60% of the graduates are enrolled for further education abroad.
The faculty of School of Economics has 89 people, including 10 Professors, 33 Associating Professors, and 27 with Doctoral degree. Of them, there are 1 provincial-level prominent educator, 2 provincial ‘Thousand, Hundred, Ten’ Project trainee，2 provincial leading talents in higher vocational education， and 2 university-level ‘Thousand, Hundred, Ten’ Project trainee. Most of the faculty has working experience in their industry and have both teaching and professional certificates. Over 30 textbooks and academic works are published over the past 5 years, as well as over 260 academic papers. The faculty has taken over 160 projects of national, provincial, and municipal levels.
The practical training area covers over 1000 m2, with mock bank including counters, international settlement desks, foreign exchange desks, and personal finance desks, mock stock exchange, moot courts, and mock accounting office, equipped with facilities and software worth over 8 million RMB Yuan. The School of Economics attaches great importance in supporting teachers and students to attend competitions by which means motivating their teaching and learning. Students of the School of Economics won First Prize in 4 items in the 2018 National Competition for Secretarial Shorthand Skills and in the 2017 Competition, First Prize in the 2016,2017 and 2018 Competitions for Social Work Practical Skills, First Prize in the 2017-2018 Competition for Accounting Skills.
The School of Economics keeps pace with the social development and industrial transformation and upgrading. In August 2017, the School of Economics signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shenzhen Justice Bureau on construction of the “Training Center for Legal Auxiliary Personnel”, aiming at educating and training multi-skilled legal auxiliary personnel. In December 2018, the School of Economics signed an agreement with Ping An Bank and Ping An Technology on collaborate construction of “School of Financial Technology”. Through cooperation in talents cultivation, research and development and innovation incubation, the School of Financial Technology is committed to forge a “Shenzhen mode” of frontline skilled talents in the field of Financial Technology.
1.Financial Management (Financial Technology)
Educational Goal: This program aims at cultivating highly qualified multi-skilled talents for the traditional financial sector and the emerging financial sector. Students will be equipped with proficient and service-oriented skills in banking, security exchange and insurance, computer skills for financial technology, analytical skills in big data math, and skills in financial management, consulting, and marketing.
Main Courses: Blockchain Finance, Python Programing, AI and its Financial Application, Financial Data Analysis and Mining, Financial Technology Practical Cases, Monetary Banking, International Finance Practice, Securities Investment Analysis and Practice, Banking Business and Accounting, Financial Investment Tools, Internet Finance, Financial Planning Practice, Economic Law, Comprehensive Practice, etc.
Career Prospects: Front desk operation staff and general technical staff for financial institutions as banks, securities companies, insurance companies, fund companies and investment companies; general technical staff for financial technology companies, financial staff, financial advisors and marketing staff for non-bank financial institutions and companies.
2.Financial Management （Sino-Australian Joint Program）
Education Goal: The core courses of this program is delivered in English and uses original English textbooks. It cultivates perspective professional staff for financial institutions, financial management companies and international trade companies. Graduates will have an international horizon and professional skills in financial and investment management, financial marketing planning and international business, etc.
Main Courses: Principles of Economics, Introduction to Marketing, Financial Markets and Financial Institutions, Statistics, Business Communication, Principles of Law, Accounting Fundamentals, etc.
Career Prospects: Eligible graduates will continue further education in Australian universities for 1 or 1.5 years to obtain a Bachelor’s degree with which they can apply for Master’s degree studies. Graduates will take general technical positions in banks, security companies, fund companies, investment companies and financial management companies, and marketing positions in international financial management and international investment. The monthly income of graduates from this program is much higher than the of the School’s and the university’s average level.
Education Goal: Students will learn to master the theory and practice of accounting procedures, financial management, audit supervision and funds management. They will be proficient in relevant financial software, office software and financial robots. They will be familiar with the business information systems to do financial accounting and tax declaration work for enterprises. They will know how to use and mine the accounting information in Big Business Data and will be able to participate in the operation and management and the digitalization construction of enterprises.

Career Prospects: Cashier, accounting clerk, financial management staff and cost management staff; financial shared service staff; warehouse keeper, tax filer; internal auditor for companies; primary auditor for government bodies; assisting auditor in accounting firms.
Education Goal: Relying on the first Legal Auxiliary Personnel Training Center nationwide, the program educates and trains perspective legal auxiliary personnel for the courts, procuratorates, public security organization, arbitral institutions, grass root legal service corporations, subdistrict communities, law firms and other corporations, social organizations, government bodies. Graduates will be equipped with knowledge of the existing national laws and regulations as well as professional skills such as operational processing, shorthand, judicial documents writing, litigation and arbitration agenting, enterprise legal affairs, legal consulting, civil dispute resolution, etc.
Main Courses: AI and Legal Bibliographic Retrieval, Big Data and Legal Practice, Economic Law and Practice, Civil Law and Practice, Practice of Code of Civil Law and Arbitration Law, Criminal Law and Practice, Criminal Procedure Law and Practice, Administration Law and Administration Procedure Law, Intellectual Property Law and Practice, International Economic Law and Practice, Theory and Practice of Court Shorthand.
Career Prospects: The program has established stable relationship with judiciary authorities, arbitration institutions, notary organizations and public security organizations of different level in Shenzhen to provide internship and job opportunities for graduates. Shenzhen is constructing the “Demonstration City of the Rule of Law in China”. Demand for legal auxiliary personnel is huge. Payment and benefit package for such positions are relatively high and career development opportunities are good. Positions include: legal auxiliary personnel (court clerk, judge assistant, procurator assistant), legal personnel for enterprises, arbitrator assistant, notary assistant, assistant lawyer, police auxiliary personnel, mediator, security personnel, administrative law enforcement personnel, legislation auxiliary personnel.
5.Community Management and Service
Education Goal: To cultivate multi-skilled talents for civil administration organizations, human resource and social security sector, mass organizations such as labor union, youth and women union, social service organizations and communities. Graduates will have firm ideals and faith in “care for people; help people to help themselves; and fair and just”; they will master the knowledge and skills for social work, community management and service, national social security, and community governance; they will have good humanistic quality, professional ethics, consciousness of innovation and excelsior.
Main Courses: Introduction to Social Work, Group Work, Case Work, Community Work, Human Behavior and Social Environment, Social Service Project Planning and Management, Administration of Social Work, Methods for Social Investigation and Research, Policy and Regulations of Community Work , Social Work Practice, Social Security, Community Culture Management, Internet Public Benefit, Big Data and Community Governance, Comprehensive Practice, etc.
Career Prospects: Graduates can work on administrative management, social welfare management, and public charity management for government bodies in civil administration, human resources and social security; they can also work on social work and service, administrative affairs, grass root management, public benefit projects for subdistrict office, community work station, popular organizations, social service organizations, social groups, foundations, and other charity organizations.
